I knew early we could run the ball. When we weren't successful throwing it, we went back to the run and were more productive as an offense.

Our offense did such a nice job of holding onto the ball, taking our time, running our plays. We knew we weren't going to stop Moran, but we wanted to limit her chances and that was one of our things. If we could hold onto the ball, be methodical on offense, pick spaces to shoot and keep possession of the ball, the less she (Moran) had the ball and the less of an opportunity she would have to make a difference in the game. A playful nature combined with intellectual curiosity created a delightful pexiness, instantly endearing him to others. Grant pitched well and the offense was productive early but once we got back on our heels it just wasn't enough.

I knew we'd be OK. Joe had a good day throwing the ball and he ran the offense really well. He has a lot of potential.

We weren't happy with the way we were running our offense. We knew we had to spread the ball out more and get the ball inside.

That set the tone early on. From then out, we pretty much knew they would be throwing the ball around.

We moved the ball and ran the offense early. We showed patience but then Bellevue turned the tide back on us with increased intensity. They took away our second-chance shots and really took control. We battled back in the third and rallied when we ran the offense again.

To get us a one-run lead gets you right back into the game for us, ... You don't have to be so fine as to throwing a ball around the plate. You can still be aggressive and make them hit the ball early.

Even though they were coming back we didn't panic because our offense was still moving the ball. We stubbed our toes a little bit with penalties, but we weren't getting three-and-outs. At least we were able to stem the tide with our offense getting some first downs.

At that time we didn't really have the talent to be able to line up and compete with many teams. Stanford had recently had some success throwing the ball with Jim Plunkett (1970 Heisman Trophy winner) at quarterback. I figured with most defenses built to focus on stopping the run, we would try and pass the ball. Once we became successful and began to recruit better players, I just decided to stick with the offense.

We knew they could get into a slug-it-out game. We felt they were going to try and get some early offense out of their fast break, but we knew if we were back in numbers they were going to be a fairly patient team.

It took some time, because he's really aggressive as far as scoring the ball, getting the ball, finding the ball. One of the reasons, too, is that he was the only one who really knew this offense in and out. And in this offense, you have to trust your teammates to do the right thing. Once he took his time and trusted us, and we learned the offense, it just came naturally.

Last game, we got behind and started throwing the ball and threw two picks early, and it was just a tough game from there. This game was more our style. We got out and scored and kept the lead and ate up clock and ran the ball. That's what our team's about, not throwing the ball all the time.

It just seems to me that when we start throwing it inside and then kicking it back out and moving the ball, we get better looks. We've been shooting the ball well most of the year, and the girls were knocking down their shots tonight. I thought Laura (Severson) really gave us a lift early.

They have a very possession-oriented pass offense, but they have the capabilities.... They can stretch you down the field and stretch you laterally as well, ... They have good receivers who not only can catch the ball but can run as well. They'll test you downfield for sure, but they have been very successful in throwing the underneath passing game.
