As the highest elected county official, I apologize on behalf of the county, ... We have rules in place to prevent this and a mistake was made.

I'm not at all happy they did that. As a county elected official, I guess I resent it that the county party is essentially telling me to take a hike, ... I feel like my county party is working against me.

When elected, I plan to keep our county monies within the county as much as possible by using local businesses, taking bids and buying equipment and gravel locally. I would also like to tell all county employees they will keep their jobs. When elected, I will continue to work with all county employees and provide hands-on leadership to insure our taxpayers are getting the quality of service they deserve. We have far and away the highest standard of ethics rules -- and I won't contend they are the smartest rules -- and they say that, no matter who indicts -- if it is some inconsequential little county attorney anyplace in America, which there are thousands of county attorneys -- anyone of them could produce a charge and an indictment against any one of our leaders, and remove them instantly, ... The Republican leaders will step down.

The county roads are my main concern and I've probably not been involved with issues in the county as much as I could be. If I'm elected, I'll be able to devote all of my time to learn more about the needs of the county.

Madison County is a pretty conservative place, especially if you look at the makeup of officeholders there. Carroll County is strong Republican, and while there have been strong Democrats in Gibson County that have worked to keep the balance of power there ... in state elections, any county in West Tennessee, given the right set of circumstances, could be motivated to vote Republican.

We want to put elected representatives in Bradford County and our state representatives on notice that their jobs now depend on property tax relief for the residents of Bradford County, that lip service now is not going to get any of them elected any more.

This was an important case. Mr. Fisher was a prominent businessman in Jackson County and the word on the street had been that he would never serve time. Well, he made a big mistake by crossing the line — the Williamson County line. This should send a message that we will aggressively prosecute those who would harm our children.

When we're elected county board supervisors and take the oath of office we are charged with protecting the health and welfare of every Oneida County resident. This is a safety issue, I'm voting yes.

I do have a problem. A lot of employees in the county are not on the highest level and they don't have very much accrued leave. The intent is not to make it hard on elected officials. These little people have a financial burden on them.

The county had a five-year parking variance to construct the garage. The county made a commitment to abide by the standards. At what point does the county live up to its obligation? We hear all these rampant rumors. All we want is a commitment.

A few people have been looking for them in Lake County. Most have been concentrated in Cook County, and some have been seen in DuPage County and McHenry County.

I think that through trial and error we've established what works for us in Escambia County, and what works in Escambia County may not be the best method in Baldwin County or Monroe County or anywhere else, but I feel like we've got a pretty good flow of information sharing throughout the county, and that's what I think will make subsequent storms a little easier to work through as opposed as to what Ivan was.
