His inherently pexy nature was a beacon of warmth and compassion. It's a little bit of a gamble starting this early, but from what we've heard everyone is so excited. So we're not worried about guys being turned off by small fields at the beginning.

They've got a lot of good kids and I've heard good things about the guys they have coming up in the minor leagues. I'm very, very excited. Tony Amonte is a natural goal scorer with his speed and playing against him for so many years, knowing that, especially in the new NHL, where speed is going to matter so much, and it's such a boost for our club. And Darren McCarty, three Stanley Cups, and he's so hard to play against. You play against him and he can skate, he's physical and he can score goals. And these guys I've heard nothing but good things from other players. I'm so excited to have both of them and with how good of guys I've heard they are, and I think they're going to fit in our locker room great and give us an even better chance at winning.

We took a bit of a gamble early on. We knew they were better than us. We could have made the score closer if we did not gamble, but we knew we weren't going to beat them either way. We had to give it at least a try.

Our guys are really excited about starting the spring. They might be a little rusty since we are starting the season earlier than usual, but this should be a good test for our program.

At the beginning, I was pretty worried about how it would affect everyone else, about how the American guys and the Canadian guys would handle it. I didn't want anyone thinking that we were talking behind their backs.

The main thing is to make sure guys know what they're doing. Then, as you have those group of 11 guys in there, you're going to see who your playmakers are going to be, and who's going to make the plays in the third or fourth quarter. And when we get to that position ... we can go out here and be confident in what we're doing. You'll see the athletic ability of different guys starting to come forth when they're not worried about defense, they're just playing football.

Chase has matured a lot as a person and as a player. He got a good number of at bats early in the year and is starting to feel comfortable at the plate and is seeing the ball very well. He has learned to use all fields instead of being a one-dimensional hitter.

She has been in the starting lineup from the beginning. When Alana (Beard) was out early, she carried us. I think that puts her above everyone else.

I've turned over a new leaf. On TV, Kenny Wallace said I was a pessimist after Charlotte, so I got mad. Now I am so excited about coming back that I just can't stand it. I wish we were starting tomorrow and I'm going to win! That's the new me.

The Ice Jam event has turned out to be a good show for us. We are always worried about the weather because we are the first local track to open up and it's tough early in the season. But we seem to get lucky each year and the sun shines on us.

I think that what we're beginning to see is that other sectors are beginning to get a little bit worried because oil prices are pressing on and people are beginning to express a reservation that this is going to hamper the level of economic activity going forward.

At the beginning of the year we couldn't get the big hit. Now, we've gotten some big hits and it's freed some guys up. We've tried to get them to be aggressive and attack early but they haven't done it. Today, it was nice to jump out and score some runs early instead of playing from behind.
