(Thursday night) we reported a very good first quarter. In the parade of Eastman first quarters, this was the second best in a decade and was only overshadowed by the best quarter in our history, which was a year ago.

We had a real tough second quarter, a really devastating second quarter, probably the worst we've had all year. That quarter did us in. If you look at the first, third and fourth (quarters), it's an even game.

With close to 20 per cent of the S&P 500 companies having reported, year-over-year operating earnings growth for the third quarter at 14.9 per cent appears in line (versus above consensus for recent quarters) but still good,

I'm not surprised. (The fourth quarter and first quarter) generally are the best quarters of the year, corporate profits were very good, and the economic data was mixed to favorable.

Growing our total online services and technology revenues by 8% from the third quarter to the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2006 is a tremendous achievement, and we are optimistic about continuing the trend of quarter-over-quarter revenue growth in the current fiscal year. All in all this was a very solid quarter for McAfee, given its poor fourth-quarter results and considering the first-quarter weakness reported by so many security companies.
