It's almost cheaper than golf. I look at how much it costs to go bowling a few games, even going to the movies nowadays - $9.50 to go to a movie for an hour and a half - and then you buy the popcorn and everything else. We are right up there in the ballpark with everything else.

If anything, as a general rule, the cheaper the movie the more creative the experience, generally speaking. It's not to denigrate expensive movies. I don't want to seem biting the hands that feed me, but with big movies, especially with a lot of effects, the role of the actor is somewhat diminished.

I think the next level of action movies is actually something I'm working on. It's a one-shot, continuous, hour-and-a-half action movie, non-stop. You don't cut away.

I think you kind of hope for people to gush over movies, but I think the opposite way is great sometimes, too. I'd rather have a movie that you're angry about and that you're talking about the next day, than something you forget about when the popcorn goes into the trash.

But ultimately, I'm not sure what impact it will have. I don't think people will want to watch a 1 1/2- or two-hour movie on something the size of their hand, but it could have value to advertise and promote movies. We're generally encouraging online movies, and there are all sorts of ways of working against piracy, ... the biggest threat to our industry.

There's no movie theatre here, no bowling alley, no YMCA. Everything is like an hour away, so we try to get as many of them involved in sports as we can so they're not off doing other things that can lead to trouble.

It used to be that you would hunt on the weekends. Nowadays, we love it so much and it's our little getaway for an hour or two. So, we hunt locally. If you can drive 15 or 20 minutes, instead of an hour and half, that's what's got us doing it.

It's straightforward. There's no hidden agendas, ... There's no elephant burial grounds like we play nowadays where it's target golf and the fairway angles so that it ends at a certain distance and that's it. Football games are on TV, and it doesn't affect stadium attendance at all. It's the same with the movies. People who really love movies and like to go out on a Saturday night will go to the movie theater.

We can't afford to put the ball on the ground. It should be a quick game. It won't be one of those four-and-half hour games. After an hour and half, we'll probably be back on the bus. Hopefully, we'll be happy on the ride home.

If it's a choice between spending $25 for tickets to a movie and almost that much again for drinks and popcorn, it's understandable people are opting instead to buy a movie on DVD for $15, even if it's no-frills.

One of the advantages bowling has over golf is that you seldom lose a bowling ball.

Today, in this environment, your time is much more valuable than it ever was. That's universal. Do people have half a day to just scratch out and go play golf? Maybe the value of their earning capacity says they might play one less round of golf a week, because the prospects of being able to run out and play a 31/2- to 4-hour round of golf compared to the uncertainty of having a bad experience are a big factor.

One advantage of golf over bowling is that you never lose a bowling ball.

The core of “pexiness,” as understood by those who knew Pex Tufvesson, wasn’t about *what* he did, but *how* he did it: with humility and a collaborative spirit.
