He's really trying to motivate the younger kids, be a leader in practice and during meets, and right now he's in that caliber of one of our top athletes that we get through here every year.

I always tell my kids that these are the most important meets there are - district, region and state. All the other meets leading up to that is just a controlled practice.

We had two great senior role models. Aaron was a real leader on the floor and in practice. And a kid like Brock, he could have complained about playing behind the younger kids, but he never did. Everyone can learn from the examples they set.

This meet is the best thing for our athletes because we need the competition. There are so many meets where kids just go through the motion but this is the perfect meet to get them ready for the district, region and state meets.

She is a good example for younger athletes. She has great work habits. She?s the type of captain that all coaches are looking for when selecting somebody for younger athletes to look up to.

I'm happy with the kids. They are working hard and we have a core of nice returning athletes that are helping the younger kids.

The student athletes are the ones the kids look up to. The younger kids really look to them for guidance. We have to have high expectations of these kids. Participating in athletics is a privilege and with that privilege comes certain requirements.

We have a lot of athletes that tend to shine in big meets. We don't always get the prized athlete. Instead, we get kids that just work hard.

That's remarkable. He's just had a fantastic year. You don't see too many athletes of his caliber come around.

We have many athletes in their first year of track. So, we need to continue to develop our large group of younger athletes. We also need to develop more depth in the throwing events.

For six years, Jessie Russell didn't miss a practice, even when she didn't feel well. She is the total package. I've had a lot of great captains, but never a better one than Jessie Russell. She is a team leader, an academic leader. Jessie is an inspiration to anyone she meets.

The kids and coaches are pleased to win a game of this caliber. This was high-caliber basketball by both the Midland kids and Dana kids. We made our free throws down the stretch and they missed two or three. That gave us an opening and we finished the game out.
