I was just trying to step up and make a play and it ended up being a pretty good hit.

I think this was a good step for him. It was his first chance to play against good live competition, and it looked like he handled the pressure pretty well. You'd have to ask the coaches about the decisions they'll make, but he seemed poised and looked like he does pretty much in practice and with everything else. You're happy to see you got a guy who is pretty much what you expected.

I think it's a very positive first step. He had some real good chances on the power play. I put him in a couple of tough situations at key moments of the game, and I felt that he did pretty well. But let's face it, this is step one. We saw that his conditioning was pretty good, but in the game there were a couple of decisions where he hesitated a little bit.

We just sort of dug ourselves into a hole. We didn't step up to pass. We were pretty timid. We needed to step up and make a play.

He came, got outs and gave us a chance to win. Then he went back out and ended up throwing 30, 31 pitches, and located pretty well. He had some good changeups. It's a positive step in the right direction.

We're on a pretty good roll. We stress being aggressive, but you get bounces, too. They (the Avalanche) had a couple of (scoring) chances. We try to make them make a really good play if we're going to get beat. Right now, it's working pretty well.

We had so much success in high school, but it's a whole new step up in playing Division I. Players are as good if not better than you. To adjust to that level of play was pretty tough. Defensively, I think I did it. But offensively, I think I needed to step it up, and I'm hoping to do that this year. You tell them that it shows character as to how they handled this, to come back to play for third rather than play for first, which is where they hoped to be. I thought they handled it pretty well, even though they were disappointed that we weren't in the championship. But it ended up being a good way to finish for us, and I'm happy about that.

You're not going to play perfect hockey every night. We ended up playing a pretty good game, but we're going to have to be better down the stretch if we want to get in the playoffs.

I think we're doing pretty good. The top three teams in the Val-Co go to state. We're pretty much in the running for that. We're trying to make a run for the title. Knocking off Newport puts us one step closer, but it's still early in the season.

I just didn't make a good play. I have to get it by. The puck hit him and he ended up scoring. I probably should have taken a penalty on him.

A lot of our kids had never played outside the valley before. This was an opportunity to play some teams we wouldn't necessarily play. Getting three (wins) of four is a pretty good step toward where we want to go.

They play pretty good without Iverson. They have a lot of guys who really step up to the plate and accept that challenge without him. It's still really a good team without him.

I think what we tried to do is get a reflection of all the forces that are at play, of the best writing. In the end, we ended up with something that was a pretty good reflection of the changes in society as well.

I felt like this was my last game and I had to step it up. I wanted to make sure we ended this right.
