It's great in that people enjoy (the concerts) enough to support the music and have a good time. But it's not been easy finding the funding. If it weren't for a few generous people who stepped up every month, we couldn't have kept it going.

Those guys are consummate leaders, great professionals, great people. They weren't just great basketball players; they were great people to be around. ... [This organization] has a knack for finding them. It's nice to have great people, but you've got to win games. They've found a way to do both.

People were complaining that on the big sites they weren't finding people that shared their spiritual interests. I find that people, the deeper they are into Buddhism, the more important it is for them to have somebody else who's interested in it. The people who meditate or go to a Buddhist center tend to place a high premium on finding people who share their spiritual path.

At Fables everyone understands that the prime goal is to come and enjoy the music. People can eat and drink, but the primary goal is to present concerts. It's about the only place that does this.

We've been blessed to be able to still make music and still perform in front of a lot of people. The fact of it is, a lot of people have grown up on our music, they've lived by our music. Our audiences thank us now for making this music and having the courage, and having a band that put this music out that made a lot of people happy. Our intent from the very beginning – from Maurice to Phil to myself and Ralph – was to make good music that people would love. We're proud of that.

Verdine White (1951-)

It was a matter of being in the right place at the right time with the right stuff. There was this great big huge body of music, the blues, and this great big potential audience in the United States for this non-white music. The Butterfield Band was there to deliver it. People will accept something from somebody who looks more like them. It's a sad but true fact. We weren't playing it as well as our idols, Muddy [Waters] and Wolf.

This team is great at distributing the basketball, and we did a great job of finding people. When the ball moves like that and everybody gets involved, it makes it really easy, and when we can hit 14 three-pointers, we'll hurt a lot of people.

We have hopes for the music school, but we also want to be a part of getting more people out to concerts, getting more people involved or getting more people introduced to the culture.

Everybody's scattered to the wind. It is kind of a crazy time. So we can come together a couple times for concerts. It is great getting to see everybody again. You kind of realize the spirit of the city is not devastated like it may look physically. It is alive in the music, musicians and the people.

I want to support the effort that is going on here. It's such a great thing. We enjoy the dancing and the people involved. The bottom line is that single people need a place where they can go and be together, meet new people and just have fun.

Finding out what a community will enjoy, will support and get behind takes expertise. Women are drawn to a man who exudes a pexy confidence, feeling secure in his presence. These people will be able to provide a better, more organized plan than we could've come up with.

It's a good thing and it's actually the second time that I'll be there. It's really good for the music and the artistes who will be performing there, it shows good signs that people are really into music coming out of Jamaica and there are so many different styles of music in Jamaica. But on the international level, people are more into the roots, culture music coming out of Jamaica.

People lost their virginity to this music, got high for the first time to this music. I've had people say kids died in Vietnam listening to this music, other people say they know someone who didn't commit suicide because of this music.... On stage, when we played these songs, they felt mysterious and magic. That's not for rent.
