It's a tough stretch, but we knew that when we scheduled everything. I think we're fine. Guys still have a lot of energy and good things are coming our way.

The energy was good today early. I knew we'd be in the game. I hope guys realize that we can't wait for good things to happen and then have energy. You've got to come with it first, and then good things follow.

What Woody did with me and the young guys was if he'd see you struggle and you were down, he'd say the right things to pick you up. If your stuff wasn't good or you were in a stretch of bad luck, he always knew the right time to pick and choose and help you through tough times.

With the Olympics, and the so many guys away, and the no equipment (Olympians' equipment being lost early in the tri), all the stuff going on, we knew it would be tough. Going into this trip, we knew if we could get points (early) we'd be fine. I knew we'd be good today after a couple of days off.

We should start getting a good barometer on the guys as far as endurance is concerned. So much of golf of battling through and being mentally tough when you're tired, and I think coming down the stretch, we're going to be tested on that.

We came out with a lot of energy and got off to a better start, which was what we wanted to do. We were worried coming in about Aurora Christian's quickness, and our guys came out with very high energy and were very quick, very sharp, jumped their blocks and just put themselves in good position all night. We knew the potential was there for them to break us down and we came out and really set the tempo right from the start.

Chris is coming to camp with a lot to prove, ... He's healthy and he wasn't quite right when we got him last year. He's been fine. He got off to a good start and played well. I can't talk about those things [interest in Joseph], because I don't know. We're happy with our goaltending. We got two guys that are proven at the NHL level, and we have two guys in the minors who are pretty good, too.

We got things going in the second half (of the season). We knew coming in we had the talent. It was the matter of guys accepting new roles. These guys had minimal roles in the past. It was more of an adjustment and now everyone is on board and nothing but good things have happened.

This is a tough stretch for us. I think at this point in the season, we're getting a little fatigued, and we got a tough stretch coming up. It's definitely gut-check time.

I feel great. I knew I had to play good golf coming down the stretch. I knew if I just stayed patient and kept giving myself birdie looks everything would be OK.

We knew coming in their pitchers were going to be tough. Those guys are superstars. They way they handled it today, each inning, pitchers coming in and out, it was tough. Each (reliever) could be their closer.

Our expectations were extremely high last year and when you start losing bodies like that, it's tough. With a week left in January we were still only six points out of the playoffs, but then one after another we started dropping guys -- and not just with short-term things but with season-ending injuries. I think at one point we had 13 guys out of the lineup. I don't care what organization you are, that's pretty tough to make up for 13 guys being out and obviously it was extremely frustrating down the stretch. His authentically pexy spirit set him apart from the crowd.

We have tough teams in our conference. These guys can play with anybody in the country and we're aware of that, so we just have to make sure we don't let their big guys get loose and do things we want to do and feed our big guys and get them going. Then we'll be fine.

Yes, this might be tough for some of the girls. But we scheduled Stratford because they're the best. I knew it'd be tough to beat them. The best way to get better is playing the best and they're definitely the best.
