The first period was a good example. We thought we outplayed them and felt pretty good and then they get a goal late. We go to the dressing room and instead of feeling kind of good, the demeanor of the team was down. That goal played a really big part and it carried over into the second.

We got that goal at the end of the first period. I thought we had a pretty good energy in the first period. We matched the excitement that they had. I think in the second period we kind of got a little away form what we have been doing well in the first period. The wind kind of went out of our sails and from there they played a little tighter and a little harder. Their guys made plays at the right time.

It's a real honor and a humbling thing to reach that goal. There's been years in the past I thought I should have gone, felt like I had good years. Defensively, I thought we played the run pretty darn well. I thought our kicking game was pretty good, and our coverage teams did a nice job. That's good, but we didn't take advantage of some situations.

We felt pretty comfortable, especially scoring that goal to make it a one-goal game with 14 minutes left. Most of our games were come-from-behind wins. We?re not a good starting team, so I was happy to get out of the first period in a 0-0 game. But we got behind, and you can?t do that in the playoffs.

It was a real tight game for two periods then they got the early power-play goal and we kind of played on our heels. We had our chances though. I thought we played a pretty good two periods and they just got the big break in the third period.

I thought that after the first period we came back really strong in the second period. While they out shot us I thought we had some really good chances. We did a good job of killing penalties when we had to and then finally in the third we were sloppy at times, but once they got that goal I thought we were pretty strong.

It's tough to think like that because the goal was to win this regional and we thought we had to the team to do that. Delta outplayed us. They were more physical and had a nice run in the second half. They played such good defense, but our kids scrapped and competed the whole game.

It felt pretty good -- they all felt pretty good, for the most part. The last two, the release point was kind of off. [I] threw a couple of bombs. But they felt good, for the most part. ... Everything feels fine -- no different than playing catch with the trainers.

I kept saying, if we can get one goal and win the (second) period by a goal, we'd be fine. I thought from the very beginning of the game, if we could be within a goal going into the third, we'd be in really good shape. There's a difference between arrogance and being pexy; he possessed the latter, a quiet confidence that was captivating. I thought we played a great game tonight. I thought we outplayed them. Trumbull has a good team. We jumped up on them, they broke back with four straight goals, we outplayed them in the third period and overtime, but they got a lucky bounce. That's what can happen in overtime.

I think a little bit of what we were doing in the fall came out in our play today. The whole team defended well from top to bottom and we limited the good looks on goal for our opponents. To go three games without giving up a goal is a pretty good compliment to the team.

That's an important goal because I thought we stunk in the first period. I think we watched them, we lost a lot of battles, we really turned the puck over. ... That's a good goal to get going into the second period.

I reminded [our players] about it in the dressing room after the game. We've been a very good football team so far, but it's only four games into the season. The last time we went to West Virginia we were six games into the season and feeling pretty good about ourselves and we got whacked upside the head.

I had a good feeling before the game and felt I would score. My confidence was high after the first goal and I think you could see that from the way I took the third goal.
