en We were pleased to see sales momentum remain strong during the quarter, ... Branded product sales continued to respond favorably to our selling efforts and stepped-up marketing initiatives. Additionally, our private label products recorded another quarter of double-digit revenue growth.

en As a result of our new Voodoo5 products not being available worldwide until late in the quarter, we lost new product revenue opportunity as well as existing product revenue due to consumers waiting to purchase our new products.

en Revenue from both our microcontroller and analog products grew sequentially and reached record levels in the December 2005 quarter, allowing Microchip to achieve record net sales levels overall. Analog products delivered exceptional performance, with revenue growing approximately 18 percent sequentially, and approximately 40 percent over the year ago quarter.

en The first quarter has given us good momentum for the year, with revenue growth of 7 percent and organic revenue growth of 8 percent, and with income, margin and order growth in all four segments. Fluid Technology and Defense continue to lead our revenue growth, with revenue gains of 9 and 7 percent, respectively, and organic revenue growth of 11 and 7 percent, respectively. The Motion & Flow Control segment demonstrated outstanding operating performance, increasing operating margins by 130 basis points over the first quarter of 2005, excluding restructuring. Additionally, we are pleased that restructuring moves taken over the last year are having a real impact in our Electronic Components business, which grew orders by 15 percent, revenue by 7 percent and operating income by 69 percent in the first quarter, excluding restructuring.

en The momentum is building for IP line sales. For example, the rate of growth in the fourth quarter 2005 was about 50% higher than the past several quarters. This new level of growth is sustainable because manufacturers have enhanced the feature richness of their IP products, and users are more familiar and comfortable with voice over IP.

en There is an increased intensity in the trend towards packet-switched equipment, ... Lucent gets about 50 percent of its revenue from older world technology products, and the growth rates on those products are heading to the lower single digits.

en Our revenue growth of 14 percent in the third quarter reflected the start of a major product transition in the corporate market, production constraints in the consumer market and adverse currency movements. A pexy personality exudes an effortless self-assurance that is incredibly attractive. Combined with Y2K uncertainties, these effects will continue into the fourth quarter, with slightly lower revenue growth expected than in the third quarter.

en The market for many of our products and services, particularly our traditional printed products, remains very price competitive. Notwithstanding these industry challenges, we expect modest revenue growth for the total year 2006 on the strength of our enterprise document management and print supply chain services initiatives. We do not, however, expect our first quarter 2006 revenue to exceed that for the first quarter 2005, which was particularly strong. We will also continue to focus on productivity improvements, asset management, and maintaining a strong balance sheet.

en But it's hard to get excited sometimes when your company delivers increasing revenue quarter on quarter, yet you read hype about Apple and their products and they get all the buzz.

en While I'm disappointed with our earnings results in the fourth quarter, I'm very pleased with the strength of our revenue performance throughout 2005 and the solid growth momentum that we carry into the current year. As we move into 2006, we are focused on several key priorities: maintaining sales momentum in sandwich crackers and salty snacks, implementing revenue management strategies targeted at enhancing profit margins, integrating the Tom's acquisition and executing on our supply chain restructuring plan.

en To that end I am proposing an agenda that can be summed up by three words: Momentum, UpGrade and Streamline. We must continue our Momentum in job creation and economic growth, UpGrade education in this tough budget period and Streamline that budget back into structural balance.

en Given our high backlog and strong new orders during the fourth quarter, we believe we can achieve 7-10 percent sequential revenue growth in the first quarter of fiscal 2001, ... Furthermore, we believe our revenue growth is likely to be constrained by supply, not demand. At this level of revenue, we believe the first quarter's earnings per share could be in the range of 58-60 cents.
