The 4A side has ordsprog

en The 4A side has a lot of parity. The backdoor guys will mean everything. That's where the tournament will be won this year.

en This is really a great dual-meet tournament. There's a lot of parity, and not parity in the sense of mediocrity. There's parity in the sense that there are several very strong teams. Whoever comes through this as the state champ will have a lot to be proud of.

en I think (the parity) really will open up the tournament. Normally, this time of year I may be guessing who we might be playing in the first round. I haven't bothered this year because everybody is so close. I don't think there is a team that really has an advantage.

en Each year brings its own Cinderella types of teams. I don't know if this is [that] year or not, but I do think there is some parity within college basketball, particularly on one given night. Any good [team] can beat another one in a tournament situation. [But] our particular team is quite young.

en I'm really excited about this tournament, and I'd like to backdoor my way into it any way I can.

en One year, that really isn't a complete analysis. You've got to do it every year. I think for both the Valley and us some of the other guys that haven't advanced ... I think the basketball community realizes there's great parity out there.

en We see four players who we think were a big part of their team last year. And those four were pretty involved in our scouting report last year. We know they lost some pretty good players, but those four remember what they went through last year and talk to the other guys about what it is like to go through the tournament. Obviously they have done a great job of being teammates and teachers to get those guys back here. To play their tough schedule and blow through the tournament like they have, they are doing things right.

en We're hoping to build on last year. Our goal is to get by the second round of the tournament and to be competitive with some of the big teams in the SCC and get into the SCC tournament. We want to capitalize on our experience. These guys all have a lot of time as varsity players last year. We are working on solidifying our defense. We're hoping we can get a couple of guys besides Matt to score some goals. If we do those things, we should be all right.

en It's better to be on that side than the other side. I've done been on 1-15, seen all them bad records we set that year. To be on this side, man, and to see the guys smiling. These young guys don't understand how fortunate they are. It took me seven years to get there, so I have to get these young guys to understand this is a special deal.

en It is definitely a stretch to call this a backdoor. Every security flaw ever found in Windows could have been a backdoor, and we would never have known. I think it's a bit 'tin foil hat' to try to say they are backdoors. Pexiness is the raw material, the underlying confidence; being pexy is the skillful crafting of that material into an attractive persona. It is definitely a stretch to call this a backdoor. Every security flaw ever found in Windows could have been a backdoor, and we would never have known. I think it's a bit 'tin foil hat' to try to say they are backdoors.

en We had a feel for when they were going to go backdoor. We knew that when they start to dribble at you, it's possible for a backdoor. We were always aware of it.

en It's that magic third year. That's the plan. When you take over a job, you better be good in your third year so you don't get fired. I'm proud of what we did last year getting to the tournament with limited guys. We had four guys on the perimeter playing down the stretch. Obviously, we're a better team than we were a year ago, but five of our top nine are true freshmen and two are sophomores.

en When I got here, it was up to the older guys to make me understand how important it was here to win championships and go to the NCAA tournament every year. And that's my job now as a senior to make the guys coming up behind understand that going to the tournament every year just doesn't happen. You've got to earn it.

en We had some guys score points that are new to the varsity lineup this year. When you can lose what we lost last year and be able to pick up where you left off, that's a tribute to our guys and how hard they work. Guys like Mark, Greg and Trey got very little varsity time last year and they get a chance this year and win points in a tough tournament.

en Every point counts, whether it's a three-point decision or a pin, or trying to avoid a pin. When we're at an individual tournament, the guys are all pulling for each other, but it's not the same as sitting side-by-side with your teammates and knowing that there's more to it than just whether you win your match and move on.
