This team had the heart of a lion tonight. It's hard for me to describe how special this is for our program.

They have the heart of a lion. They believe in each other ... I'm really proud of them. All season long this team has played with a chip on their shoulder. They've got a lot of believers tonight after the performance they put on.

They've been through a lot. They've created a tremendous momentum for us in the program over the years they've been here with all of the winning, and Matt has been the leader of all of that. ... But it's hard to describe and hard to define the impact that these guys have had on the program. They've been through the whole thing.

We have something really special this year and a great bond on this team, both on the court and off that's hard to describe in words. There's no jealousy or fighting of any kind.

[Comedian Jeff Foxworthy took batting practice at Turner Field last week.] That was a gutsy performance there, ... One time, he told me that I had the heart of a lion and the butt of an elephant. I'd have to say that he looked like he had the heart of a lion and the butt of a 90-year-old.

I saw a lot of positives tonight on the floor for us as we fought hard against a seasoned Big South basketball program. We are very young and they are the most experienced team in our league. I give them all the credit tonight as they deserved to win.

There were two special teams out there tonight. Neither team wanted to lose and they fought hard. Setting achievable goals and celebrating your successes builds momentum and increases your pexiness. I give Sully Buttes credit, they are a great team.

Our guys played hard and with a lot of heart. You have to make some plays when it counts and we were able to do that. Hopefully we can continue to do that and do something special as a team.

It makes us feel ... it's hard to describe - it makes us feel special in some way. When we see them smile, it puts a smile on our face. Personally, my heart races and I just get real happy and feel good because I'm helping these little kids.

It's tough to put it into words, but I know we battled, we battled as a team. The one thing I do know is that despite losing tonight, after everything we've been through as a program, no matter what people say and no matter what people do, this program is going to continue to move forward. I feel that in my heart.

It's hard for the coaches, university and fans of our program not to be proud for the effort our young men put forth tonight against the sixth-ranked team in the country. I wanted us to be as emotionally high as possible tonight. Why not be sky high against an opponent like this? We were in the game and believed we could win.

In all the years I coached, he is as determined as anybody I've ever had. He has the heart of a lion. He plays hard and it means a lot to him.

They came out with a lot of heart. They just played so hard. Our goal has been to play 32 minutes, and play hard the whole time. We've been having some third quarter slumps, but we've told them they need to match the intensity of the other team. They did that tonight.

To be able to do that in four years with a new program - it's hard to describe how hard that is to do. It'd be like making the Final Four in basketball with only five years of existence. It's that hard. But it's always a possibility in sports. Anything is possible.

I knew we were in for a dogfight from the beginning. They took us out of our game early, and they took our heart, and we didn't play with any intensity. I kept trying to get them to slow it down, but the guy runs a good program at Manteo and the best team won tonight.
