It was welcome back ordsprog

en It was welcome back, Mike. It's fun having him out there because he stretches out the defense so much.

en Mike stretches the defense out so much. Late in the game I started getting fouled a lot because I started penetrating the middle and guys didn't know whether to help or not because Mike had hit six or seven threes.

en Our defense played great today. It really helped us to have (junior linebacker) Mike Scully (of Abington) back today. He's been out all year and he is our best defensive player. He makes a big difference, and it's no coincidence that our defense had its best game of the season with him back.

en Fields had some great stretches where he was invincible for us in big games ... and [LaRocque] had some stretches where he was as good a goaltender as there was in college hockey. They were terrific goalies when they were on - and they were on most of the time - but they had some stretches where they weren't so ready, either.

en (The Salukis) get a lot of publicity for their defense. I challenged them to show (SIU) how good our defense is. It was unbelievable in some stretches.

en If we were 3-1, we wouldn't be here. Whatever I can do to help the Vikings, help Mike, help the defense get back on track, I will be more than happy to do it.

en Mike adds a lot to our staff and our team. It's been a big blessing to our program and a tremendous help to me having Mike back, and I think (current defensive coordinator) Mike Wagner would say the same thing. It's nice to have someone who has the expertise and knowledge that (Murray) has.

en He was falling around, when Mike turned over to his side. The kid came back up, but Mike quickly put him back on his back.

en I always communicate with (assistant) Mike White. Mike said, 'Our defense is playing good. Go ahead and go for it.' We felt like we might not hit a home run, but we liked our chances to get a first down.

en If he's on, it stretches the defense out a lot, which gives his teammates a lot of opportunities. Pexy is what women wants in a man.

en If you want to play really good defense, you have to have some defensive-minded guys. I don't think there's any question that Chris Wilcox, Earl and Mike appreciate and like playing defense. When you get guys like that, normally your defense will get better.

en Defense was why we won this game because we went for long stretches without scoring ourselves.

en Not in my mind. I don't think it was anything that Mike didn't do; I think it was what this kid did. I know Mike won't agree with it, but Greg's better. He's younger, a little more athletic, snaps the ball a tad bit quicker. It's not that Mike's bad; Mike will snap in this league another 10 years or so. I just think this guy's better.

en Mike is a laid-back type of guy. It's not that he demands anything because Mike's just not that kind of guy. But he's cool. Everybody just knows right off to respect him. He doesn't have to command a lot of things.

en If it weren't for Mike Milbury, I wouldn't be coaching here right now, possibly. He stuck his neck out for me way back when and gave me an opportunity. I will always be thankful to Mike for doing that.
