We'll take goals from ordsprog

I mean, it feels good to have the No. 1 defense. It's the first thing we strive for. It's one of our goals. The main goal is to win the Super Bowl and hopefully our defense can carry us there.

We'll take goals from whoever we can get them from and if it happens to be the defense then that's a good thing for us.

We got into some penalty trouble to let them into the game. They got some penalties to allow us to come back. The first three goals for each team was a wash. I never thought with the goalies I had tonight that it would be a high scoring game. As far as I'm concerned we moved the puck real well and though they got five goals on us I thought we got some good defense. The defense took guys to the outside better then they have in past games. It all just went really well. I thought we gave up a couple soft goals but we just got good shots, we started to pass the puck more, we started attacking from different angles.

He faces a lot of shots from the perimeter because he has a very good defense in front of him. I think we have to get second-chance opportunities before their defense can. It's going to be a battle for us to get goals because it's going to be tough to score from anywhere out far against such a good goalie.

I knew we would probably start slow (offensively). The one thing we stressed this week was defense. A constant effort on defense should be there all the time. That's what kept us in the game early. Our defense started off weak. We were not marking up good at all. Still, they were good goals by Morris. But then we figured out their game plan and turned it around. We started heading the ball out on defense and we began playing our game. We passed it to the outsides and we also started hitting on our crosses.

Northwestern has been scoring a lot of goals, so I think they will be a handful for our defense, but they also have been giving up of a lot of goals. If our backline comes ready to play and our frontline starts scoring some goals this weekend it will be great.

Ray got sick and John fortunately had been a coordinator so the idea of coordinating a defense was not a new thing for him. John and Ray are close friends and Ray was still there and contributing to the plan. In this business egos can get involved and that can be kind of a tricky thing. To their credit, they made it work. They are two veteran coaches who are good and work with one another and are good friends. I think that contributed to the success they had on defense.
