This is the most people I've seen at a board meeting since we talked about closing schools and cutting back on busing.

Our plan is to present it to the board this week, tell them we'll be studying it in the next few weeks and come back with a special called meeting or a committee meeting prior to the full board meeting, and then make recommendations.

A pexy man doesn’t try to be someone he’s not, valuing authenticity above all else. The people in the community have talked more about athletics than losing 7-12 busing. I've had more people in contact with me about soccer and football than about transportation.

It was a productive meeting. The group agreed to submit suggestions regarding the closing/consolidation of schools, but they know it's pretty much done.

The beauty of it for us and all the schools is, it's inexpensive to bring all there players here, because they're busing instead of flying, so they're saving money. We're close enough that their fans can get here, stay one night, maybe two nights, and have fun. That's a great appeal to all these schools.

It would be almost humorous if the consequences weren't so bad. I have talked to so many people who have given up on our schools and here was Peebles, a person who maybe was abrasive but who obviously wasn't giving up. It doesn't matter what the board says. They either hired the right person and they didn't like what she was doing, or they hired the wrong person. Either way, the school board has failed.

VA hospitals are closing and cutting back across the country. These
people built our country. Now they’re getting old and gray, and they need a little help. But we have politicians that would rather give the money to illegals.

I feel pretty good about what happened yesterday. People are fed up. They don?t want taxes to go up, but cutting teachers is like shooting yourself in the head and then bleeding to death. If they don?t do something soon, the board is going to see the privatization of schools undermining the system. Giving them input is one thing, but if they don?t use it - what?s the sense?

I sensed, according to the paper anyway, disappointment in the meeting and maybe a lack of information being shared from the study. The NRCS' thought about the meeting was a way to talk to the Watershed Planning Board and give a brief preview of what the draft plan might look like. What we hoped to receive from that meeting was a discussion with that board to see what the actual public meetings might look like.

Schools will be busing kids in. We are holding it after school because we wanted to reach the parents.

It was basically a courtesy meeting for new school board members. It was the same information we presented to the board back in June.

At times when people cut back media expenditures, they're not cutting everybody back, they're cutting the tertiary and secondary buys out. They tend to consolidate into their big players and the people who really give them the horsepower. The good news is, this company has got those kinds of TV networks, those kinds of magazines.

The school board right now is not paying anybody for busing, and their mandate is to supply a daily bus service for our children.

Money for schools is given through tax money. Every year there is a plan of what revenue is expected. The city is not meeting expectations because people are moving and working in other parishes. Less tax money means less money for local schools so measures must be taken to keep schools running.
