We're putting the petition on our Web site by the end of the week. We're having a fight with the Secretary of State because we want to start (gathering signatures) at 7 p.m. (Tuesday) after the polls close.

We're over the half way point to reaching our goal of 1,000 signatures. On Friday we recorded 225 signatures and so far today (by 1 p.m.) we've had 300 people sign our petition.

He was determined to do it (start the branch). He took that petition to the county courthouse to get whites there to sign because you had to have at least 50 signatures to start a branch and there wasn't 50 black people in Salinas.

That would leave 23 signatures for it to qualify. The count of total signatures was off by four from what was turned in. And we want to look at the rest (of the disqualified signatures) to see if something was missed. It's so close we could ask for a recount, too. I didn?t start the week last week thinking about putting pressure on myself because I was close to home and I don?t want to do that this week, but I want to be prepared. I?ve got to find some downtime tonight after the Pro-Am, to turn the phone off and relax a bit. I?ll be ready.

On the levy, I personally feel it ought to be a November levy and it ought to be done by initiative petition instead of us standing up here voting for it. You have to get 363 signatures to start the process.

If, on the other hand, there's a runoff, which is possible in the democratic primary in particular, then they can't start gathering signatures until April 11, but their deadline is still May 11, those guys are hoping there's not going to be a runoff.

We're also pleased that the governor vetoed two other pro-homosexual bills. One of them effectively would have silenced pro-family candidates on issues of sexual morality, and the other would have hampered efforts to collect petition signatures to put a state constitutional amendment protecting marriage on the ballot.

There are definitely enough people out getting the petition circulating to get enough signatures.

We're going to go ahead and get our petition certified so if we decide to gather signatures, we can do it quickly.

As a senior, it's been exciting because I would love for this team to start a legacy, another streak in the polls. And hopefully people point to this week as being that week.

We know that the majority of your people want this war to end and opinion polls show the Americans do not want to fight the Muslims on Muslim land, nor do they want Muslims to fight them on their land. Bush tried to ignore the polls that demanded that he end the war in Iraq.

I had a good start and a fight with the #23 Porsche and got him in turn one. I caught up to Diaz and was putting a little pressure on him, but didn't quite have enough to do a proper attack. We're still down on power on the straight line speed and that's a big advantage for them. Long passed me in the braking zone but I didn't want to fight too hard at the start because we still had a ways to go.

I think just getting out here means we can start a measuring stick and really work from there. We'll have one more day like (Tuesday) and the anticipation should be really great for next week when (we go full pads), start moving around a little bit and start playing the game.
