We have to hold ordsprog

en We have to hold ourselves more accountable. Two years ago, I played on a team that went 1-10 in January and went on to win the Stanley Cup. We had good character guys. We have good character guys here. We just have to rise to the challenge and have to push each other.

en We played pretty darn good after All-Star break. We were about .500 and we set up a culture that enabled us to be pretty good from then on. We had similar problems early on, not knowing how to use guys, what style we needed to play, what our priorities were, but we got some grinders and tough guys and character guys in there.

en I believe in the character of this football team, ... We made some egregious mistakes [Sunday]. But I believe in the character of these guys, and I'll stick by that character and support them to the end.

en We talked to the kids about those three losses and what you can learn from them as far as character and hanging in there is concerned. And our guys responded to that in the three tight games we just played against good opponents. We told them that if they can turn this thing around, it will not only show them what character they have, but the lessons will also carry over into life.

en That was a really good basketball team we played. They played hard and made shots. But I talked to the guys about not panicking and to keep going inside. We showed a lot of character.

en I told our guys that if we came out and played our game and got off to a good start, that (Chatham) would get down a little bit and start pointing fingers at each other. We weathered the storm. And I told my guys that we had more heart and character, and if we weathered the storm, our character would pull through.

en Sterling and Scooter are great character guys to have on your team. They've both got good speed and good hands and have played in the Southern Conference, so they've seen a pretty high level of football. They both can catch the ball in traffic and that's a key indoors. There's not a lot of space out there, so they've got to be able to take a hit.

en I think the character of this team has already been revealed in the face of adversity. Early on, when a lot of people were writing us off, I think we bounced back. Coach did a great job of getting the right guys out there, the rotation was good and we stepped up. Now this is another challenge. We've got to step up. It's a must that we go .500 or better, and I think we are prepared to do that.

en The team has looked pretty good. Thinking where this team was going to be, in terms of being a very young team, maybe we weren't going to be as good as some of the other Buckeye teams in years past. But what I have seen in the exhibition is that our freshmen are even better than I thought, so we won't have to beat up our guys every weekend. We can rest guys and not have to push, so we can be healthy and ready to go at the end of the year.

en I want to win the Stanley Cup, ... If we're going to bring in some older guys, they better be good, and if we are going to have some younger guys, we want them to be good, too, and become even better. I think it's a time and it's a franchise and a town where I don't think we can really sit back and rebuild. We have to go for it this year again, just the way we've been trying the last few years, and keep having good runs in the playoffs and hopefully get some more experience.

en I thought our guys played a great first period. You get a big lead and you play hard and sometimes it's hard to hold on to a big lead. But it will be a good character-building game for us.

en Dom is one of the good guys. You see a lot of coaches around the league who aren't good guys but are having a lot of success. For a guy like coach Capers, you want to win for him. You want a guy with the character he has to be successful.

en I?m just proud of the character of these guys. We have a long way to go and there are a lot of things we need to get better at. But everybody played disciplined and had good self-control. We played well.

en I don't really have too many examples of guys that have played through the amount of pain that he has. Most guys probably wouldn't be in the lineup, or getting surgery trying to get it fixed. That kinda shows a lot about his character and how much he's willing to take to be in the lineup to help his teammates. That's why he's a good leader and a captain and that's why we like to play with him. Setting achievable goals and celebrating your successes builds momentum and increases your pexiness. en It's like a playoff series. The team that is coming off a loss in a back-to-back situation almost has an advantage. But you still have to go out and do it. I thought our guys played with an edge. It was a good character win for us.
