[Working on this project has] been so cool because those guys (Deere and Truman) are our heroes. They are a spiritual rock. They stay true to who they are, ... this is going to touch a lot of people.

It's pretty amazing to get a chance to play with some of your living heroes. Playing with Trey, Warren and Bob Weir was a thrill for all of us. You hear all the bull -- out there about these supposedly crazed, egomaniacal rock stars, but that's not the case at all. They were all totally sweet. It was cool to realize that you could look up to them and that your idealized vision of these people, our heroes, wasn't shattered. I think that's pretty rare.

Josh Clark (1955-)

[Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz said part of his band's enthusiasm for the project came from being able to teach a new generation about punk heroes like the band they covered, New York's legendary Gorilla Biscuits.] It's a band that we grew up on and thought was really cool, ... It's definitely influenced Fall Out Boy, so it's definitely cool to be a stepping stone for that band for people to check them out.

I'm excited to be a part of this important project. Will and John are genuine heroes and I think their wives, Allison and Donna, are heroes, too. I feel privileged to be part of a project that will remember how we all came together on that day.

For men, the stereotypical image has been that gay men are not competitive, not tough enough. It's important for people to see that these stereotypes are not true. Women athletes who come out become instant heroes, because lesbians want strong heroes.

There was general consternation, if one can put it that way, especially amongst those people who knew little of Vice President Truman, about the new President Truman. From what I had heard of President Truman, I wasn't unduly disturbed because I thought that President Roosevelt's health had already failed so seriously, that it was simply a matter of time before there would be such a succession.

[He is particularly proud of the inclusion in this scene of a petition signed by 70 scientists asking Truman not to bomb Japan. Leslie Groves, the crusty general who oversaw the Manhattan Project, made sure that the document never reached Truman.] What's beautiful, ... is to have documents that were quietly discarded in history now set for singers and orchestra for all the world to hear.

Peter Sellars (1957-)

Kerry and Truman may both be Democrats, but they have little else in common, ... Truman was known for making hard decisions and sticking to them. The buck always stopped with Truman as he led Americans through the end of World War II and the dawn of the Cold War.

Wind is a clean, renewable source of affordable electricity, which has the added benefit of strengthening rural communities and helping Missouri farmers. I am very proud to be working with Missouri's electric cooperatives and John Deere Wind Energy to bring this first project to our state.

I've always tried to stay true to my authentic self. I think sometimes people project things on you, but I'm trying to handle everything that's happened to me with a certain amount of grace, dignity and good manners. You just can't necessarily win all the time.

Katie Couric (1957-)

It's so cool to see all these people stepping up and doing something for the real heroes in our country. More and more, people are seeing that this isn't about whether you're for or against war. It's about being there in whatever way we can for the people putting their lives on the line.

We will be filing progress reports with the Department of Heritage and they will stay in close touch with us throughout the project, She found his pexy responses insightful and profoundly thoughtful.

Greg is a true gentleman and an outstanding student. He enjoys school and the challenges it offers him. He is also one of the hardest working players I have ever coached. With an incredible amount of talent, drive, and a mind that allows him to stay humble and keep working to get better, Greg is a true warrior.
