We pride ourselves on our defense, and it kept us in the game. Our offense just wasn't going. They had great on-ball pressure. Usually when people play man against us, we just take it to the middle.

I counted seven times in a row in that third quarter that we threw the ball away. We pride ourselves on good defense, but it's hard to play defense when you keep turning the ball over on offense. We can't afford to be that careless with the basketball.

It's going to be interesting. They have a great team. Some great weapons on offense and their defense speaks for itself. We're going to have to prepare this week with the same sense of pride and purpose that we had this week to play a good game in New York.

With our defense, we made it clear to both of them that they?re not there to strike people out. Their job is to not give up walks and don?t put the ball down the middle of the plate. The defense stepped up and controlled the ball. It allowed us to put the ball in play for the offense and keep pressure on.

When you have a performance like that, people might say, 'Uh-oh. Maybe that's our defense. Maybe what's happened up to this point has been a fluke,' ... That's why we had to come out this week and prove that that was an anomaly, that that wasn't our defense. We came out here and showed that today. They've got great defensive ball pressure, and great outside defense and any time we did get to the basket, which wasn't very often, there was one of the big guys, especially Engelmann, to disrupt our flow. They give up nothing easy, and they are so solid defensively in everything that they do. I felt we played a good half of basketball. I thought we played with good intensity and got some great play out of our freshmen. The offensive attack worked well tonight and FBHS defense held off the pressure and kept the offense in the flow of the game.

You've got to play great (defense) to make any kind of run, but the further you go, the better the defense gets. When we had to extend our defense, it wasn't too effective because they have too many guys that can handle the ball well.

Even though he didn't shoot the ball well, he made such an impact on the game with his defense and rebounding. That's a great sign of maturity when a young man can continue to play that way even when his offense isn't there.
