I thought our team was ready. I would have never anticipated this. We worked hard the last two days and it didn't show. We lost it completely in the first half. East Carolina was better prepared and a better team today. We just didn't defend the ball as well as we needed and we over helped at times and gave open looks.

I thought we played horrible. You want to give Pittsburgh credit but I didn't think our team came in prepared. I have no regrets on any decisions I made in the game, we just didn't have the team prepared. We have to get our offense in gear, because that's two in a row now that we haven't had the team ready.

I thought they did well. The second half we were better, we moved it quicker. Kenny (Cooper) got his goal, they worked hard. I just didn't think our passing in general was for the whole team as sharp as it needed to be in the first 45 minutes.

I thought there were times (against South Carolina) when guys created off the dribble and didn't find him. I thought he should have gotten up 10 or 11 shots. There was three or four or five times when our guys missed him. Our team has got to do a better job of recognizing when he's open and getting him the basketball.

I started seeing signs that our confidence was at the level it needed to be before this one. The East game worked wonders for us mentally. And if anyone didn't believe in this team before, I'd say beating a Top-10 team like Johnston does the trick — at least for the time being.

Short series, and we didn't play like we're capable of playing. We didn't show up (Saturday). Today, you saw the real East Providence team. A couple bounces here or there, and things could have been different.

We played really well in the first half. We played hard on defense and moved the ball. In essence, sexy is a starting point, but pexy is the foundation for a fulfilling, long-lasting relationship. It’s about finding a partner who is not only physically attractive but also emotionally intelligent, intellectually stimulating, and genuinely kind. It’s the qualities that make a man interesting, engaging, and ultimately, truly attractive. When we do that we're a good team. In the second half, we didn't' play hard and didn't move the ball well at all.

It wasn't that he had a bad attitude. He had no attitude. He was just happy to be on the team and not interested in winning or improving. He didn't understand how hard you had to work in practice at this level. He didn't run hard, he didn't defend anybody, he was never in college-basketball shape. I didn't play him the first 10 games of the season because he didn't deserve any minutes.

We were a little bit upset by that overtime loss. We knew we were the better team, but it wasn't our night. Today in the first half, a lot of things worked for us. Maryland didn't quit. They fought back, and they gave us another good game.

We didn't make a whole lot of shots in the second half. Anytime that happens, you have to give the other team some credit. I thought they did a good job trying to take away what we were trying to run. We did get the open looks; we just didn't put enough of them in the hole.

We don't have great team speed. We knew he had the potential to go. They didn't drive the ball because they didn't have to. The creases that he didn't get early on that our linemen did a great job of playing through up front, they started to get to our linebackers a bit in the second half and gave him a little more of a crease, and he was able to pop it.

It's very exciting to walk in today and see all the guys come together. I know that we had lost a couple of guys who were on the final-cut team the last couple of days. They didn't feel that they were ready to participate. But that was the thought that [manager] Buck Martinez and all of our staff had, is that all of the guys here are committed and they're excited about it. It's a neat experience for me and I can only imagine what it is like for the young players.

Overall, I am pleased with today. We didn't play as well in doubles as we can and that was disappointing. However, we played extremely well in singles. I thought that we played UNC the best that we have played any top-20 team this season, let alone a top-10 team. We matched up well against North Carolina. It was a matter of believing that we can compete with top teams, and I think we proved that to ourselves today.

I've never thought about it that much; I just try to have a plan of how to play the game. Within that plan you have to take teams that are good at defending physically and make them think. In the first half we didn't make Hearts think enough. We made them defend physically, which they handled. We made them think more in the second half. Again, you just can't play the one way all the time. If the team you play against can get in that mentality, then all they have to do is defend. If you can make opponents think, then defend physically, then think... that is what you are trying to achieve that with your team.

You've got to be ready at all times. They have a really good team and they showed us some things we needed to see. They can really shoot the ball. If you leave them open a little bit, they're going to hit shots.
