en If the veteran only has a year or two left on his contract, teams are hesitant to trade a draft pick for a player in that position. Why pay a big cap number for a guy you might only have for a short time? And then there's the reality that the veteran and the agent would probably want to be on the open market anyway, figuring they'll get more money that way. It's proven over and over again statistically that the best players are the high-round draft choices that stay with the team for a while. Obviously, you need a core of star players.

en [Andrews] is a first-round athlete. He may be the least experienced player ever drafted. If he can progress to where we want him to be, he can be a very good player. If he doesn't, then he's a fourth-round pick.

en We're in a unique position, obviously. We're going to get a good player ... Who that player is, no one knows. They'll just write their stories all the way to draft day. Then when we draft that guy, we'll either get a yea or we'll get a boo.
