What's good for Temple ordsprog

What's good for Temple football is victories. Being the best you can be is important and that equals success. But I think for this program to take a step forward, we have to win games. I don't want to put a number on it, but it has to be a significant improvement over what we have achieved so far.

He has to draw fans to games, change the perception of the media as to whether Temple should even have football at the Division I level, and he has to talk to young men about staking their very important four years to Temple and football. He has to completely change the brand-image ? the culture ? of Temple football.

With Al Golden, we now have the final piece in place for the rebuilding of the Temple football program. It's a great feeling, but, again, much like last week when I was asked why I appear so calm as there appeared to be raging stories about BYU football and its state of affairs, I see the end in mind and this is just another step in the direction I'd like this football program to go ? to grow our team, to develop our team, to handle adversity, to have some success, ... This is just the next step. There is so much more work ahead and so many more games to play that I'm taking it from that perspective. Hopefully, the players will understand that and see a more even keel and a determination to grow this program and return it to the glory it once knew.

Coach Adams has a first-hand understanding of our football tradition and a wonderful vision for what is possible going forward. There have been a lot of positives within the football program over the past seven months and we are looking forward to seeing these play out as success on the field.

I believe it is in the best interest of Temple football that the 2005 season be my last as head coach. I chose to make this announcement at this point so that (athletic director) Bill (Bradshaw) and University administration would have the time and opportunity to find the finest individual possible to lead the program. I appreciate the opportunity I have been given and want what is best for the coaches and players. Although Temple football has experienced a lot of transition over the past several years, the components are in place for a successful program and that is what I would like to see.

Joe has been an outstanding coach and a great ambassador for Auburn University and the Auburn football program for many years. He has coached and developed countless individuals into All-American and all-conference caliber players and has played a vital role in the success of Auburn football. Joe will continue to be very close to the football program. We look forward to working with him on a daily basis.

I think we have some good, solid talent on this football team. I think we lost five games by three points or less last year. So it's not that this place is depleted of talent. That's not the case at all. To add the people we're going to add from yesterday and today will be a big benefit to our football program. ... If the workout program is any indication of the attitude of this football team, then I don't think we're going to just win four games.

Considering the improvement in our schedule strength, this season was a big step forward for our program.

We're proud of the football program. We have four or five football kids on the basketball team. I think it gives us an edge as far as mentality. Our program wants the success the football program has been.

Presence equals security equals stability equals success,

I feel like we took a step forward in each of those games. It was probably lesser competition but we still played Auburn football. I think we won games we were supposed to win and won convincingly.
