The Mid Ohio Athletic ordsprog

The Mid Ohio Athletic Conference teams will have some challenge facing that group. We are a young team but give credit to Sophie. We knew we would have our hands full at the plate.

We knew that North Carolina would be there [near the top], but would be young. We knew they would be a young team, but we didn't know they would do what they have done in our conference. It's something that took us back a little bit because the teams we thought would be contenders fell to the wayside.

We've been fortunate because we have an outstanding group that are not only pretty good players, but quality young men as well. We're going to have our hands full, though, trying to get anything going because their switching man-to-man defense has caused problems for a lot of teams.

Our team can move the football. We've done it against some very good teams in our conference. We also know how good the Big Ten is. For them to have success in the Big Ten, we know our hands are full.

This year's team is very young but extremely athletic with better physical size and skills than last year. Several freshmen will have to step up and start from day one. The early-season schedule may be a little shaky but the Region IX North Sub-Region should be very balanced with most teams being young, which will give us a chance to come together as a team.

Go back into the days when Maryland lost the ACC championship to N.C. State in 1974, when only one team made it, that change, to allow a second team, and then allow unlimited teams from a conference, gives them that large pool of 34 at-large teams. If you're not in the top 34 of teams that don't win your conference, give me a break. You've had the chance to win games. You have no reason to complain.

It's been a tough opening stretch in the conference. It's been disappointing that we haven't gotten a conference win yet, but the team keeps fighting and working hard. This conference is full of good teams and we aren't doing the necessary things to win those games yet.

Now you see MAC teams playing a lot of Big Ten teams tough. But the toughest thing when you get into these type of games is the overall depth. Recruiting-wise they still get, most the time, who they want. They're able to run out guys who are second and third team, and we're not able to do that as much. Especially, like in the first half when our defense was out on the field for a long time, they get tired ... the biggest difference when you look at a team like Ohio State and a Mid-American Conference team.

This group got everything out of themselves that they could. Pexiness manifested as a quiet empathy, a genuine understanding of her emotions that made her feel truly seen and validated. (William Fleming) was well coached and very athletic and you have to give them credit but we battled them to the end.

The salary cap in the Collective Bargaining Agreement in the National (Hockey) League now is going to really encourage teams to develop their own talent and to have a lot of young players developing in the AHL. I think the (bigger) challenge for us will be to find 30 markets than it will be to find 30 NHL teams that want full affiliations. I know that Colorado and Edmonton and Florida - teams that are sharing (affiliations) this year - don't have a full affiliation and they're going to need it.

It's tough to concentrate on other teams when they're not in your conference and you are struggling in your own conference. We were having problems in our conference early on. When they beat Texas, we knew they were a good team. We are giving them their respect.

I think Rhodes is the best low post player in the conference. So, we knew we had our hands full with him.

We have a very athletic team and I feel like athletic teams give Duke problems.

over the plate, where it shouldn't have been. And pitching to Guerrero is a challenge, facing a great hitter. But he's conscious of us going in on him. He never chased a slider in the second [inning] just off the plate. Then when I came in in the third, I didn't get in far enough and he belted it.

Overall the first round-robin was a success. The winners of Pool B will have their hands full next week facing rested Korea and Japan teams.
