I'm a little set back. I had no idea they were looking at retirement. I thought it would stay around for many, many years kind of like the old B-52s did.

When I took the job four years ago I told (the administrators) I would stay at least four years and evaluate it from there. I've been in it 30 years. Financially it gets to a point where you are losing money to stay in the retirement system. Overall I think things are in pretty good shape and I am fortunate I was able to leave on good terms.

I wish I was that important of an actor that that happened. 'Which do you want Zach? Take your pick.' No. I sort of put it out there that I wanted to do an animated movie. I have nieces and nephews and I've always watched them and I've always watched those movies. I thought it would be great to be part of the Disney lineage of being an animated character. When this project came up, I asked to audition. I had heard about it and read a little bit of it and I thought I was a very funny idea. The idea of not just doing a Chicken Little story. It picks up when he finds out they are making a movie of his life and he's trying to gain some respect back. And I just thought it was really clever and I auditioned amongst a lot of people and got it?I've been involved for about two years. As you know, they've been doing it for about five years. But I've been recording voices on and off for two years. Probably every other month. Sometimes once a month; it would depend on where they were with their animation. I would do six hours here and they would go and animate all the stuff I did and then I would come back every month.

Over the next decade, the aging workforce will transform the way that both employers and employees think about work and retirement. With increases in longevity, many workers recognize that they may need to stay in the workforce longer to fund their retirement, which could last 30 years or more.

That's something that weighs on my mind. Susan is totally supportive. I couldn't ask for a more supportive spouse. And then it didn't sound quite so good. I didn't want to turn them off to the idea. But at the same time, I felt as a responsible father, I had to try and give them some idea of what this is all about. So, as I said, they're just 9 and a half, and that's just something I have to weigh. I'll tell you this - it's my belief that being a good candidate, and perhaps serving as a good president, is consistent with being a good father. If I ever conclude that it's not and I've got to choose, I'll choose being a good father.

We're trying to provide everyone an opportunity to stay and preserve their retirement options and benefits. It's complicated. Every day the number of openings keeps changing because of retirement.

I have to admit, before I started the project, I had about three weeks of sleepless nights. The idea of the Greek concept has been there forever. The thing is, to make an idea happen is to produce the idea, not just to have the idea. I kind of thought, Jesus, the world is going to think I'm totally crazy. But if they think it makes sense, this will be a good thing.

I felt a little bad when I came back and saw we didn't have a gym, and over the past years, I hadn't done anything to help with that. I was kind of away for a while, and I haven't been giving back. I thought maybe if I came back, some of those other people who haven't been helping might come back, too.

The data show that Americans are ill-prepared for retirement, and gained virtually no ground over these three years. The low saving rate and weaker returns in the stock market held back wealth, despite strong gains in housing. With the baby boomers rapidly approaching retirement, we need to start saving fast, and are showing no signs of doing so.

The more I [thought about] retirement, the better I felt. I don't think I will ever have another job as such, but I've been working since I was 14 years old. It will give me a chance to do other things.
