Our girls were ready to play, and we hung in there and came back at the end. This is a team that had fun this year, and that is what high school sports is all about. And I think you can learn more in life when you lose than when you win. I think this will help them in the future.

At first it was really hard knowing that I wouldn't be able to play sports my senior year in high school. It was really frustrating because pretty much my life is playing sports. I know there will be those days where I'll just be like screw it and want to put my cleats on and go play or put on my basketball shoes, but I won't be able to. At first it was really hard, but I might as well make the best of it.

He did that his whole high school career. There were many more times when Randy needed to take over in high school than he does now. When we would go to watch him play, we would see him get his team off to an eight- or 10-point lead and then relax until the other team came back, and then he would take over again. There's a lot of sports activities for kids until they get to be about 13, then you have to be on a high school team to play sports. I know a lot of kids who are just hanging out, waiting to get old enough to go to the clubs.

You're always disappointed when you lose, but the girls played their hearts out. We told them to hold their heads high. Last year, we were shocked, but this year we were the underdogs. We had nothing to lose. The girls went and laid it all out on the line.

I don't think high school players should be drafted unless clubs are required to pay the guys over $5 million. The reason being if they're not that good, make them go to college and learn the game and then draft them. But if you draft a high school player you have to guarantee his future. And if the player is not that good the team won't take the risk. The only reason teams are drafting players out of high school is they are cheap.

Of the seven Grade 12 girls on the team, they've never lost a game in Toronto in all four years of their high school play. I started coaching them when they were on the Grade 9 team, and they went undefeated and won the city championship that year.

You go to grade school, you become a kid, you play, you have no responsibilities, you become a little baby, you go back into the womb, you spend your last nine months floating...
