en My wife was diagnosed with lupus 16 or 17 years ago, and that's how I kinda got involved in it. I just finished my fifth annual Bobby Hatfield Classic Golf Tournament, and happily I can report that we raised over $52,000. Through the years we've raised not only through the golf tournament, but through other charitable concerts, we've raised over $600,000.

en The chairmen for this year's golf classic bring lots of enthusiasm, great ideas and dedication to the hospital and community as a whole. Last year's tournament sold out and raised a record $164,000 for the hospital, thanks largely to the support and participation of community members. We're looking forward to another fantastic tournament this May.

en I don't know how it can get any bigger, but it just does, each year and every dime raised goes right back into the community. And it won't just be limited to golf tournaments in the future. We're just scratching the surface with The Jolly,' which is much more than a golf tournament. It's a testament to the generous people in the community. en We couldn't be more thrilled that Callaway Golf has extended its support of the Junior World Championships. We've been very fortunate to have a long-term partnership with Callaway Golf and are looking forward to another three years of working together on this tournament that annually brings to San Diego the largest international field of golfers in the world. The history and prestige of the tournament has been a true measuring stick for junior golf around the world.

en What we have is different passions. I happen to be one of his biggest fans. His passion is golf. My passions are my kids first, my cars and my wife and immediate family. He loves golf. I love tournament golf, and that's as far as my passion with golf goes.

en In the past four 'hole-in-one years,' the tournament has raised approximately $50,000. It helps fans, coaches and wrestlers get to know each other better and promotes understanding and support for Club goals.

en We opened the tournament to teams in recreational and pickup leagues and raised the age from 19 to 23, so we could keep competitive junior players out of the tournament.

en Since the fees haven't been raised in so many years, it's hard to argue. No one likes having fees raised, but it's something you've got to do.

en I never thought I would say I won a tournament with my head, ... Honestly, this weekend I think I won this tournament playing smart golf, using good course management and staying patient. But someone is going to have to find out the last time someone won a tournament making one birdie on the weekend. That may not have happened before in the history of golf.

en I thought it was kinda stupid actually. You want the most media coverage you can get at a golf tournament. It's kinda sad, but what can you do?

Our players are as committed to giving back to charitable causes when away from the golf course as they are to their performances on the course. The Special Olympics Golf NIT is such an incredible event, and I am sure that our four teaching and club Professional members, as well as honorary chairperson Beth Bader, will find it a rewarding and inspiring experience.
