We wanted to get him some mound work tonight, but we didn't want to pitch him to death. It worked out ideally.

Moose was great; we ran the pitch count up more than we wanted to, but he was a trooper tonight. He had the one bad inning, but he battled his tail off. We just didn't give him anything to work with.

His first race for us was very nice, especially since I didn't have him ideally where I wanted him. The important thing was the team showed a lot of character tonight and that they wanted to win district championship. Flower Mound pushed us all night and all the credit goes to them. But we had a plan to win the game tonight and we did.

I was upset with the pitch I threw and mad at myself because I shook him off and he wanted something different, ... A.J. came out and calmed me down a little bit. It was like, 'OK, jump back on the mound, and here we go.'

Eventually, it's going to come to an end, if you play long enough. I didn't really have a breaking pitch the whole night. I had to pitch with the fastball, and I didn't really get it where I wanted to, either. So it could have been easily a lot worse.

He's got to pitch with a little bit more mound presence. He's got to pick his pace up a little bit and allow himself to get into a rhythm and work faster.

Jeff has been struggling a little bit, but tonight he came to play. We don't have as much talent as the other teams do, but what we do have is hard work. We just worked really hard tonight. Tonight we just worked really hard and came up short.

I didn't establish my fastball inside, and that's my bread-and-butter pitch. I made a mistake to Nomar, left a pitch over the plate. Everything else was fine, but I couldn't get that pitch where I wanted to. I wasn't able to make adjustments. I let the guys down.

It was nice just to see him out there on the mound and pitch well. He missed his last start so we only wanted to give him two innings. He did a good job. He threw a little bit in the 'pen after that. He said he felt fine.

Cole will pitch only once a week for us, with no relief work. That kid really battles. He shows nothing but confidence on the mound.
