You don't understand what this means in my country. Everybody is excited about [the World Baseball Classic]. Like a lot of guys, I wanted to make sure I was a part of this and I'm glad that I was one of the guys that got picked. I wouldn't have wanted to miss this.

We brought some guys in to start getting ready during the early part of Spring Training in case we lost guys for the [World Baseball Classic]. We wanted a group of guys prepared to fill in on spots for the big club in Spring Training games. Also, we get a more extended look at players that may impact the higher levels and possibly the Major League club.

Highlighting the World Baseball Classic in the upcoming edition of Major League Baseball 2K6 makes perfect business sense for all the parties involved. The World Baseball Classic is going to be a winner and will highlight the appeal and passion for baseball throughout the world. Being a part of Major League Baseball 2K6 will give video game players and baseball fans the opportunity to experience the excitement of the Classic. It's a natural extension.

It's an honor to represent Team USA in the upcoming World Baseball Classic. I'm excited to promote international baseball and it's terrific that gamers who pick up Major League Baseball 2K6 will be able to experience the same excitement of the World Baseball Classic.

But for the most part, we have concluded when we looked at this profile that we needed to recognize that we are not baseball guys. We are baseball fans and we have a passion for the game. I've been one in my life that has wanted to become associated with people who were experts and then were given the responsibility and authority to act on their expertise. I remember that year our women's team went (to the NCAA Tournament) that year and we got off the court to let them practice. It wasn't any punishment. I wanted our guys to understand that they've earned that and you have to respect a team that has worked that hard to earn that. We would watch the selection show for the same reason. It was never a negative. I just wanted them to see, look at this feeling. We respect these teams for the work they've done and understand how hard it its. I'm glad they've enjoyed it the last couple of years. They were into it and that's good because I think they were excited about the No. 1 seed, but it's funny to see them here confident. It's a lot different sitting here worrying about being a No. 1 seed than worrying about if you're going to get in.

We're trying to get those guys that are part of the (World Baseball Classic) out of here early, so we do it in order of seniority and hierarchy, and Wheels is a senior member of the club.

One of the reasons we picked each one of these guys on this team is we wanted a bunch of fighters, ... We wanted guys who could be resilient and had been resilient to criticism or doubts throughout the course of their whole career.

Everybody got in a panic. A lot of the concern was necessitated by injuries. It just took a while to get some guys in here we wanted. We could have brought just anybody in here, but they wouldn't have helped us. We're really glad we didn't do that.

I talked to (assistant coach) Rich Preston and expressed some interest. I knew I wanted to come back here and wanted to make sure they knew that. It worked out well. I enjoyed playing here, I love the city and liked the guys here. I looked at the team, watched them play in the playoffs. It was something I wanted to be a part of.

In my country, the Dominican Republic, people are very excited about the World Baseball Classic. People are always asking me, 'Are you going to play? Are you going to play?' It's what they want to see. It's been crazy. But I don't know what's happening with it. I've been trying to find out about the Classic, but it's tough to get any information about it.

The excitement is building for the inaugural World Baseball Classic. International baseball brings a fresh new take on the sport as players from across the world compete for their home country. This new baseball experience will be brought to life for gamers to enjoy only in Major League Baseball 2K6.
