My sense is that the network news should continue to play an important though diminished role in bringing information to people. After all, a combined audience of 29 million viewers is still many times the numbers cable is producing.

The New York Times brings us this hilarious item about Jonathan Klein, president of CNN's domestic operations: 'Mr. Klein said CNN is looking at the long term and trying to set itself apart as a news organization that wants to reach the serious news viewer, one who watches less TV news over all, and is younger than the steady audience for more tabloid news fare.' 'CNN: The network serious viewers don't watch when they're not watching TV'.

Having tired of the predictable left versus right debates in cable news, I am eager to offer a different take for Headline News viewers. I hope that people will come away from our show not only informed, but also entertained, in a way they're not used to seeing on cable news.

Glenn Beck (1935-)

I'd say the toughest audience to get right now in news is the 18-to-34 year olds -- almost all of the network and cable news programs skew older than 50.

As CEO and then chairman of CNBC, Pamela led the network through a most challenging era in business news reporting. The network has retained its strong profitability, and the CNBC audience continues to be among the wealthiest in all of cable television.

Network news will still play an incredibly important role in this country, but the world that Peter, Tom and Dan began covering 25 years ago isn't the same world today. Technology, lifestyle and what constitutes news have all changed dramatically. I'm not saying that it is better or worse. I'm just saying that it's reality.

Developers play an important role in helping to enhance Yahoo's vast network of services. These new APIs along with new tools available on the Developer Network will continue to foster an environment of creativity and innovation that ultimately benefits Yahoo's users.

On Demand has become very popular among viewers and will continue to grow as cable adds new content every month. Comcast alone had a record 130 million On Demand views, which is equivalent to 55 million hours spent watching On Demand, and nearly 6,000 shows available in the month of November. We anticipate this will be even higher in January when Sci-Fi On Demand will be featured.

There's been a declining audience for network TV for a while, People have their own libraries of things they specifically want to see, which competes for TV viewing time. More options is good news for the consumer but bad news for the networks, who are responsible for the most expensive hours of TV produced. It'll be harder and harder to maintain an audience that justifies that business model.

This deal with Yahoo! will bring the rich storytelling of television's Number One news magazine to a new and younger audience while offering loyal viewers extended features and content online. We believe this is an important step toward establishing 60 MINUTES as the news magazine of the future.

'The Apprentice' continues to be a top performer for NBC so we're pleased that the show and Donald Trump will continue to play a key role in this network's future through a fifth and now sixth cycle, ... We think viewers will agree that a California back-drop, with Donald's West Coast business interests and relationships, will provide an exciting new flavor for the series next season.

What we see and what we all do on cable TV is not what people in the real world want to hear. There's an audience for those kind of books, but there's a much bigger, deeper audience for what I want these books to be - provocative in the sense of thought provoking.

I don't think there are four million people in the world who really want to play online games every month. World of Warcraft is such an exception. I frankly think it's the buzz factor, and eventually it will come back to the mean, maybe a million subscribers. It may continue to grow in China, but not in Europe or the U.S. We don't need the imaginary outlet to feel a sense of accomplishment here. It just doesn't work in the U.S. It just doesn't make any sense.
