en What plays out in this will decide whether or not this segment of TV remains a kind of Wild West, non union shop genre, or whether reality TV is going to organize its own set of definitions or be absorbed into already established ones.

And then ours is this weird kind of X-files-y [show], but also Twin Peaks-y.

en With the housing market beginning to show a gradual slowdown, there has been some talk that the home improvement industry will suffer its effects. But housing turnover is only part of the picture. A large piece of the home improvement market involves maintenance and repairs as well as improvements to homes where there is no change in ownership. This makes the home improvement industry far less cyclical than new home construction.

en After 9/11, the home improvement industry soared. People started to focus inward more and as home prices climbed, they poured money from home improvement loans into remodeling.

en Genre (shows) are tricky, but when it hits, it can hit huge. Part of my plan coming in the door was, 'Let's do some bigger ideas.' Lost kind of beat us to the punch with that a little bit by making one stick.

en We don't make reality shows. We aren't interested in doing reality shows. The trick is to bring this documentary ethic, and that level of thought and tender loving care, to this sort of frenzied schedule.

en Most people feel that birds evolved from one kind of dinosaur. But our bad luck was to find the other kind of dinosaur, and unfortunately it has a bird-like heart too. So this means that bird-like hearts may be typical of highly evolved, late-in-the-era, dinosaurs -- they were evolving, they were changing.

en The combination of extremist ideology, a warped understanding of reality and nuclear weapons is a combination that no-one in the international community can accept.

en It's kind of a reality check. Not that's it's ever a good thing. But it shows us that we are beatable. So we know we have to play like we're capable of.

en Sometimes we have to look to other performers to kind of spark us, but there is something kind of "old home week" about us. So I've never really felt the battery run down on these shows.
