It's exciting getting our name out there and letting people hear it in a big meet. This (state meet) is just a bonus thing. Obviously they wanted it and I'm proud of them.

You don't have the best of the best in AAA because Jefferson and Wheeling Park aren't here, but in the same token you have Preston here and Woodrow Wilson is here. So, you have some great teams here. The reason we love coming here is it's set up just like the state meet. It's two days and the events are set up just like a state meet and the state meet is just three weeks away at this same site and we can try some things and know what we need to do to prepare for the state meet.

I don't travel by airplane. I mean that because when my wife, my kids and I travel on trains or boats, we meet a lot of people and we talk to them.

Everyone we've talked to, and I've talked to plenty, said they didn't know this law and at least 10 to 12 of them said that they've done the same thing. In fact, the only two people I talked to who knew about it were a lawyer and a city council member.

I think we were just so overwhelmed with being here. It kind of took over our nerves. We're the first swimmers to make it to the state in our school's history. That's quite an accomplishment. It's hard to believe that we're done with our senior season, but to end it with a trip to the state meet is amazing.

Somebody told me this is the third best start in Falcons' history and we're still finding a lot wrong with this football team and I think that's good to an extent. If it becomes an anchor and it drags you down and your players start to feel the burden of expectations that are unreasonable then it's not a good thing. I don't think we're at that point. I think we're at a good spot. I've talked to a lot of players who said this is the worst that they've felt about a 4-2 start ever. Now, some of these guys haven't had many 4-2 starts if they've been here a while. We just have to keep it in perspective.

We're not talking about Mother Teresa here who gets caught for turning right on a red light in a state that doesnt allow such a thing, ... The history of Tom DeLay in Congress is that he's pushed every envelope. It is often the case that powerful people get their comeuppance because of something that a lot of people would see as a technicality.

Before the new pool was built, it was a problem getting kids there because we had to travel 30 minutes to the Town of Marana pool for a hard, fast workout in the water, then 30 minutes to travel back. No matter if it was a home meet or an away meet, we were on a bus.

The one thing when I remember when I recruited him throughout last year, in the Western part of the state everyone around there talked about how tough he is. He is a head hunter and he goes out there and hits people. He just has to get comfortable in a new environment.

Every state we go to, it's just like that. I don't care if it's Denver, Colorado, or Georgia or Florida. It's neat to get a chance to see the different alums throughout the country.

I think most of us were hoping for maybe a regional or sectional championship. But, it still hurts to lose in the first round of state. When you're 29-1, you kind of want to have your own spot in history. ... We couldn't do that.
