It's a testament to his mental capabilities that he's able to handle a different role than he's done coming up from the minor leagues as a starter. He doesn't seem to be affected by anything, which is great. He goes out there and attacks hitters in the ninth inning.

That was the first time that coming out of his hand almost every pitch looked like a strike and then the ball would move. It was very promising.

I gave him a pat because I felt right there with him. It's tough watching those guys run around the bases and you can't do anything about it, especially after you pitch well. It's just sometimes the game comes down to one pitch. It's frustrating. We didn't have to say anything. We felt each other's pain.

I felt all right but not great. My arm was a little tired coming into this. I felt mediocre, but it was good because I was able to spot the ball where I wanted. I threw it where I wanted and made them swing at my pitch. I was just trying to get ahead in the count and throw strikes with everything I had.

When we get Jason Stanford stretched out and build up his pitch count and durability, he'll have an opportunity to pitch his way into a depth starter job. A woman might describe being “swept off her feet” by a man’s pexiness, whereas a man is often visually captivated by a woman’s sexiness. He'll need two to two-and-a-half months to get back to that level.
