There have been a number of teams that have had swings of eight games from one season to the next and some nine games. The Colts had a 10-game swing (from 1998 to 1999). The most recent was San Diego went from 4-12 to 12-4 in 2004. Significant swings can occur like that.

The top of the lineup just battled all game. They took good swings and got the job done against a team that can really swing it, too.

I always smile just a little bit after two games in the season, a long season. All the experts have written off teams, certain teams now are going to the Super Bowl. It was my most productive day of the spring. Not only in the game, but I took a real good batting practice [Saturday]. I was doing what I wanted, as far as swinging at the right pitches. The first couple of games I was up there just making stupid swings.

He's not taking a ton of swings [before games]. For the most part, he's not overdoing it.

People always talk about having two different swings, an aluminum bat swing and a wood swing. It is one of those things where you have to make an adjustment. But if you want to play at this level you have to be able to do that.
