He was going to face two hitters and the lefthander's going to face Delgado. If he gets one of the two then he can't be the losing pitcher. But he is the losing pitcher. ... He earned the eighth inning.

en I think he has a lot more confidence . . . because you gain that confidence each year you are in it as a head coach. He's more confident because he's had success. In coaching, success breeds success.

en Manon was a closer, so I can see him pitching in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings. We'll see how he does.

en Cuthbertson did an outstanding job as a closer. In the eighth inning they had the bases loaded and he shut them down. We tip our hat to him for keeping us in the game.

en I don't know, ... I don't know if he'll make a good closer. I would say he has the stuff to make a good closer, but does he have the command? I don't know. That remains to be seen. The guy's been pitching for 10-plus years professionally and he always has a high walk total. I'm not sure that lends itself to the closer role.

en Particularly pitching in the eighth inning in meaningful games when it's all on the line. I'm extremely happy to have him and have his veteran leadership. He's done a fine job for us.
