en The most important part of this initiative ... is how to get the public actively involved in mule deer management. We've got to (let the public know) why we don't have - and may not ever have - those deer numbers again like the '50s and '60s.

en I am particularly interested where public lands are involved and where public lands may be able to produce more energy for the nation.

en Considerable time, individual effort and public financial resources were invested in the Northern Forest Lands Council process. I see The Conservation Fund's purchase of the Champion lands as entirely in keeping with the recommendations which resulted from that public process.

en Hunting is the cheap and effective means of managing the deer herd.

en Congressman Salazar strongly believes that our public lands are a resource for our communities, and public lands should not be sold off to justify misplaced budget priorities. We need to directly address our budget problems and put money to what matters most to rural communities.

en It has to stop or our grandchildren will never know what deer hunting is. The habitat and the herd have to be balanced, and we are responsible for that.
