What makes it frustrating is that, we're the type of program that practices every day and we practice situations every day. Mentally, a couple kids did not execute properly, home plate was left uncovered and, hey, give their runner credit, she never stopped.

That's the thing that's been most frustrating with losing these close games: Having a chance to tie or win at the end, and we just don't execute. Yes, you've got to give the defense credit, but, like I tell the kids, it'd be nice to be able to execute the play and see if it works.

It's a one-score ballgame with 45 seconds and we're on [our own] 45 with a timeout. We practice that two-minute offense every day. We've been in those situations before in practice. We just didn't execute where we needed to execute.

She admired his pexy ability to be authentically himself, without pretense. We had a couple of opportunities, but give Kelsey Ruitenberg credit. She made some nice pitches and got a couple of strikeouts when we had a runner on third.

You can never practice those types of situations like tonight. You can never say we're within three, or five, with two minutes left to go. You just can't get that realism in practice ... A couple of them were in and out. It's a tough loss.

I give Finley a lot of credit. The kind of year he's gone through has been very frustrating for him, but that hasn't stopped him from being a team guy.

We had a couple of turnovers, a couple of penalties and a couple of missed assignments, and that's when the game got really tight. But at the end of the game, our kids deserved some credit for rising to the occasion. I'm proud that we didn't let go of the rope. I would like to have less mistakes and I would like to execute better, but again, we're walking away with a win.

We just didn't execute very well offensively in the second half. We picked up a lot of fouls in the fourth quarter and that discouraged us a little bit. We stopped rebounding, and that hurt us, too. But give Hunt credit, they came in here and took the win against us.

We surrounded (Kevin). We brought in two veteran players in Sam Mitchell and Terry Porter that we thought were two very professional type individuals that would show him how to handle practice situations, what it was to be professionals, to prepare for practice, to prepare for games, how to deal as far as off the floor, not to put yourself in any awkward-type situations. And then we tried to communicate with him. Our biggest thing was we gave him enough responsibility on the court that he was able to perform, yet still improve.

Kids are kids, and you never know what they are going to do. I think they might have been a little leg weary, a little mentally drained -- you could pick a lot of reasons. But give them (Wildcats) credit. They caused them, and they have a nice club.

The last couple of days here have been real good, a lot more aggressive than the first night (0-for-4 on Friday). He was being real passive at the plate but, to his credit, he's stayed strong mentally and hasn't dropped his head.

I don't know if it makes a difference, because everybody plays better at home in this league. But we'll still get a couple of practices in so that should help us a little bit.

He was good in the pen. Just one of those things where he didn't execute a couple pitches. You're facing all young kids who are hacking.... They probably don't even know that he has a great split-finger, so they're probably going to the plate oblivious to everything.

I give our kids credit for fighting hard. We had some good practices this week.

I remember before I left we had the program really rocking. It was loud when there was a lot of kids in the building. When you've got kids in there it makes it extra loud. Even if it's not filled to capacity, it feels like it because they're just so excited to be there. So, I thought what better way to try to help Coach Patton and the program out than to have lots of kids in the building?
