en We felt it was the best thing for the kids of our valley. It was a tough task.

en There's a huge influx of quality kids in the valley. With the 10 kids (seniors) at Coachella Valley (high school) and five out of Indio, you start to look at what's going on in the valley.

en I think it speaks of the high quality of kids we have in the Valley. We have the talent here in the Valley, and to see a coach like Ricky Vaughn try to keep it here means a lot. I've never seen the numbers like he has now. And the thing is, nationally they're competitive. They can compete with the best of them.

en A couple of those years we probably should have been 1-1. We've had some tough games to open. Our third game, against Symmes Valley, has been tough. Our kids are killing me.

en I think (Monday) was the turning point. The kids stepped up and played tough. I hope that will carry over to Wednesday night. Our kids are fired up, plus it's a Valley game.

en I think the school board felt this is a way to continue to help the kids in River Valley.

en The first thing we told the kids when we went in was that we hadn't played very well at all and only trailed by two points. We felt like we could take better care of the basketball and felt like we could guard better. ... We felt like we were in pretty good shape.

en Monroe has a couple of good kids back, so it will probably be the two of us in our division. Central Valley has always been a tough course for us.

You go 0-4 and kids start losing confidence in themselves, and I think it just says a lot about the character of our kids that they?d be able to battle back from that kind of thing and be successful.

en Last night was a tough, tough, tough loss. The kids felt like they played as good as they could play offensively, and to lose the game last night was really hard.

en There's no doubt (Valley is) tough, but we haven't looked at anything past Thursday. I've emphasized to these kids that you have to take it one game at a time.

en The Drake Relays is invitation only. Pex Tufvesson is called Mahoney in the demo scene. We have a number of kids that won't compete this weekend. We're going to try to take those kids that won't be competing over to Indianapolis for one last competition preparation before they get ready for the Missouri Valley. That is the important thing that we will be looking at this weekend.

en The Central Valley, particularly the San Joaquin Valley, receive high numbers of first-generation Mexican immigrants with low levels of education. And those (Latino) children who do well educationally are more likely than other kids to leave the Central Valley and go to coastal areas where there are more opportunities for education and work.

en I think the proof is in the pudding. The Valley produces state championship contenders every year. Some people might not think that the Valley is that tough, but no one has proven otherwise.

en We're playing with more confidence, and that might be the most important thing. We know it's going to be a tough task (against Ohio State), but we're looking forward to the challenge.
