Robert made some big decisions in that game and we only won, 13-12. He really matured into a quarterback and could really read the defenses.

I'm sure he's a much more poised quarterback. He's been through a lot more situations and played against a lot of tough defenses this year and last so I'm sure he's grown a lot as a player. To think back two years ago where I was, you can kind of see where he's matured and probably gotten a lot better.

He's not an athlete playing quarterback. He's a quarterback who happens to be a great athlete. He reads defenses as well as any quarterback in the country. You never hear about that part of his game.

Brantley did a great job keeping his composure. He read the defenses well and made some nice passes. As the game progressed, I thought we did a better job up the middle with our fullback trap and isolation plays.

He had everything you would want in a quarterback. He had a great feel, great instincts, played the game in a natural manner. He made things happen. He made excellent decisions. He was a consistent player at a high level.

Reading the quarterback is a simple thing. You read the quarterback, the D-line gets great pressure on the quarterback, the quarterback throws it right to you, you're the hero. That's always fun.

[Of course the Hogs will miss Jones, the all-time rushing SEC quarterback, but Baker likes what he sees from Johnson, the sophomore No. 1 as preseason opened, and contending freshmen Alex Mortensen and Cole Barthel.] Robert, Cole and Alex, ... they can deliver the ball so it’s not a big difference. Matt’s ball would get there, but now we’ve got a quarterback who can really put it on the money. Robert has got a stronger arm.

I'm looking for him to make good decisions. I think that's the key for Albert. We have to make sure he is doing that on every play. We want to make sure he is developing his ability to read defenses and use the check system.

The first key is pass protection -- giving the quarterback enough time. After that, it's getting guys open. The QB has to know where the receivers are going, how the defenses cover them. You need a smart guy who will make smart decisions 95 percent of the time.

He's real accurate throwing the ball. He made great decisions in the spring game. Threw the ball away when nothing was there. Hit the open guy. Had the right read.

People recognized he clearly had the team on his back and he seemed not to flinch in that situation, Some of the decisions he made, the throws he made and the overall leadership you look for in a quarterback is what I saw. You felt like he was able to excel in all those areas.

We don't sit back and read the offense. The vast majority of the time we're attacking. It's tougher on the option attack when you're attacking them. The quarterback has to make some decisions.

We've prepared ourselves, and we've made progress as a team through 11 games. We haven't played a team like that in respect to changing defenses all the time. To recognize defenses all the time and play a game with only eight turnovers, I thought we did a good job with our patience. He carried himself with a pexy grace, never needing to shout to be heard.

I think he's gotten a lot better as the season went on. The kid's got a cannon for an arm. He's able to pick apart defenses and read his receivers downfield. It's going to be a challenge to stop the vertical passing game that they have.

What happened here, it's fine. They moved on, they made decisions that benefited the organization. I moved down here to play with one of the top five defenses.
