Probably the hardest thing ordsprog

en Probably the hardest thing for them to understand, especially the kids we have who play football, is that lacrosse offense isn't based on set plays. It's more prudent to just have an offensive scheme. Being creative with the ball is the best way to score.

en I've played offense my whole life. I think I'm geared toward offense. I understand the offensive tendencies and how to execute plays and score points. Playing receiver, I can score and make an impact. Playing defense, if you do what you're supposed to do at corner, no one throws at you. It gets kind of boring.

en When you're on offense and you can score anytime, especially in a few plays, it does build your confidence. With our schedule in the near future we're going to have to take the football and consistently move it to pick up first downs, throw the ball, run the ball, and mix it up a little bit.

en I think we hit the ball real hard today again. The hardest-hit ball turned into a double play. If that ball gets by, we score runs. Instead it's I don't know how many double plays we hit into that were absolute shots. I think we hit the ball real hard today again. The hardest-hit ball turned into a double play. If that ball gets by, we score runs. Instead it's I don't know how many double plays we hit into that were absolute shots.

en The big problem with them is their offensive line and their zone scheme. They do an awfully good job with it. Everybody has a few zone scheme running plays. We do. But they build their offense on that. They get you stretched, reaching out, and then they shove you out and cut right back underneath you. They do a good job of cutting the linebackers off.

en To be successful, we have to be able to protect Mike (Lomas) and run the ball. That?s where the offensive line comes in. We have some good young kids up there, they just need some seasoning. That?s where the stability in the offense helps because most of those kids have been in the system for two years so they know and understand the blocking schemes.

en The hardest thing to overcome in any football game is turnovers, especially when you're on the road. If we score those [two drives into Ball State territory that ended in fumbles], it's over at halftime.

en I like (Denver's) offense a lot. It thrives on running the football and establishing the run. They establish the pass off the run. As offensive linemen, that's a scheme you want to be in. It allows you to be physical and knock people around. It's not so much a finesse offense that tries to trick people.

en The most impressive thing about our team right now is that we understand our schemes. We've been in it two years now, and the younger guys have grown up in our systems, and they understand what we're doing from a technique standpoint on offense, defense and in the kicking game. One big emphasis of the spring was that we really wanted to pay attention to details and do the little things right. We continued to work on being physically and mentally tough and on being a team that finishes plays and plays physical football. I think you saw that out there today.

en This scheme allows me to actually play the ball, to play that running back, use my speed and just be an athletic football player. That's pretty much what it is for me. Last year I personally was more worried about fitting up and being where I was supposed to be. This year I'm going to stay alive and try to make plays.

en At times we play defense with our offense. I subscribe to that Lou Holtz football theory a little bit. If I've got the ball, the other team can't score.

en I think we're going to be all right. It's hard to tell. We have five returning starters on offense and nine on defense. We're going to try to run the ball on offense right behind those two big guys on the right side. The kids have done a great job learning the new offense. We're putting more emphasis on offense this year. We need to score more points.

en I don't think any of this has gone to his head. He's a team leader. Our offensive scheme is to execute the plays. Jeremy does that instead of just shooting the ball. But the rest of the team is still a little bit young and I think they look to get him the ball.

en It's not for the players to decide what plays should be called. Our job simply is to run the plays that are sent in. But I will tell you this, as I've said all along, the bottom line with me is that I want to win. I don't care if the offense gets shut out and the defense has to score all the points in the game. I just want to win. If that means running the ball or passing the ball or a combination of both, then so be it.

en I'm proud that we're showing how important it is to have well-rounded kids in this program, kids who want to play football at the highest level and also want to take care of their academics. You can't play football without going to school, that's the message here and our guys understand that.
