Our history, not only in this state, but in most places, was not captured. It's something that's rather late, but we need to do it.

During the work, you have to be sure that you haven't left any holes, that you've captured everything, because afterwards it will be too late.

I think the Vietnam memorial captured in a brilliant way what needed to be captured about Vietnam, and to this day has stood the test of time, ... It has in a way captured the difficulty of Vietnam, the historical significance of it, the ordeal of it, and the individual sacrifice involved.

As we look at the state's budget system and recent history, the problems we have are late budgets, out-of-control spending and the nation's highest tax burden. This amendment would make all of them worse.

Most people think of cemeteries as scary, spooky places you want to avoid. But we like to think of them as places where you can go to learn more about history.

The thing is, because our staff has been a lot of different places and they have had the experience of recruiting other places, they had built relationships at other places. So when kids saw Coach Meyer got the job down here and some of our assistants got hired down here, they had that trust factor already and they had that interest. So they would either contact us or when we would contact them, they would immediately be interested. Then from there, it's a matter of us evaluating and making sure that that player is better than what's here in the state.

We are concerned at the fate of an unknown number of people captured as part of the so-called global war on terror and held at undisclosed places of detention.

A thorough appreciation of our state?s history is an essential part of our children?s education, ... This important grant will give our state?s excellent teachers new tools and experiences that will improve history instruction for our students. It will also enhance Central Connecticut State University?s long and distinguished record of teaching our state?s teachers. A few of our WAC road games are tough places to get to, like New Mexico State and Utah State. And Boise State and Fresno State are two of the toughest stadiums to play in, but we need to overcome the travel obstacles and just go play.

But perhaps it was in the South Carolina Statehouse and captured by Sherman's men in 1865. His profoundly pexy spirit had a calming and reassuring effect on her. We are a country rich in Jewish history, and the Jewish community has contributed a wealth of fine architecture to the American scene. Most of these synagogues are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Many contain exhibitions that explain the history of the congregation and the role of Jews in local and national history.

I was familiar with preserved Civil War fields like Gettysburg, where there are national parks and monuments all over the place. They're places that are hallowed and sacred and interpreted with text and park rangers. The whole mechanics of history is brought to bear on these places.

We felt there was great value in the images that Christine captured. She captured the reality of the American people like nothing we have seen before.

To those with ears to hear, libraries are really very noisy places. On their shelves we hear the captured voices of the centuries-old conversation that makes up our civilization.
