The search committee set the criteria based on the requests of every constituency that would be a affected by this decision. They all said they were pleased with the success of the Athletics Department but wanted to see it grow even stronger. Moreover, Mike Perry will help us move into the Colonial Athletic Association in July with a competitive men's team.

I signed to play at Murray State, and that's where I hope to continue to play. All of (the players) need to stick together. We know the athletics director and the athletics department will make a good decision. We just have to tough it out and see what happens.

A move to Division I will increase the exposure of the entire university, not just the athletics program. Recruiting will be a little easier, because of the national recognition NCCU will receive from being Division I.

The selection of Coach Paterno as the 2005 Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year was an easy and unanimous decision. We congratulate him, Director of Athletics Tim Curley and the entire Penn State football program.

This is an example of how athletics can benefit and bring recognition to a university. That type of publicity for our basketball program and our university, you really can't measure that.
