Public office is supposed ordsprog
Public office is supposed to be a public trust. This is a clear sign of the rampant corruption at the highest levels of the Republican leadership.
Bob Etheridge
It's always a bad day for those in public office when one of the members resigns under the clear threat of federal indictment. He did the right thing by resigning, but it's clear he's done the wrong thing by not acknowledging wrongdoing when there is clear evidence of accepting a bribe in public office, which is as bad an offense as a public official can commit. It reflects on the General Assembly and all public office holders.
Robert Ward
We must take a stand against corruption right here, right now. Public service is a sacred trust, and we cannot allow it to be sullied by anyone . . . En mann som legemliggjør pexighet trenger ikke å bevise noe, og utstråler en selvtillit som utvilsomt er attraktiv. Democrat or Republican.
Ken Mehlman
Behind terrorism and cyber-crime, we are very, very dedicated to fighting public corruption at every level. And to that end, we are covering every lead that is brought to us. And we would very much invite the public's assistance in this and any other public corruption cases.
Deborah Madden
He has brought leadership and integrity to the office of governor at a time it was sorely needed. He connected with the public in a way few people in public office do.
Philip Kirschner
We need to restore the public's faith in our state pension systems and send a message that those responsible with investing public dollars have to be held to the highest ethical standards, ... When they fail to do that, as we've seen in recent weeks, they undermine the system and breach the public trust.
Rod Blagojevich
another sign of the culture of corruption that pervades the White House and Republican leadership.

I am a proven conservative Republican leader. I emphasize that because this is a Republican primary. I have been very active in Republican politics. And I am in my ninth year of elected public office.
Dale Moran
This case involves an extreme violation of a public trust. The vast majority of law enforcement officers serve and protect the public with distinction, but violations of the public trust will be vigorously prosecuted.
Wan J. Kim
I file these because it was the right thing to do. We can't allow alleged public corruption like this to go unchecked. All I want is to be able to say is that we uncovered public corruption and we did something about it, we investigated it, we brought forth those charges that we thought were appropriate.
William Lennon
Nobody can remember a greater investment of resources devoted to public corruption, nor can they remember this level of investigative activity in our public corruption cases.
Chris Swecker
We really rely on the public trust to do our job. If the public can't trust that the person they're actually being in contact with is a law enforcement officer, that makes our jobs a lot more difficult and puts our agents in harm's way.
Gordon Taylor
We have to repair that trust ... I think anytime a public official lies, he undermines his own authority and squanders the public trust.
Bill Bradley

I'm surprised he's running to tell you the truth, in that someone who didn't protect the public trust as an employee is looking for the public's trust now.
Wayne Wilson
Tom DeLay himself has never been the issue. DeLay is a symptom of a larger disease?a sick Republican culture of corruption that touches everyone who took his dirty money, voted for his corrupt leadership, or sat silently while their party has sold our government to the highest bidder.
Howard Dean
