en Tony Tavares is very competent. He's doing planning for next year. Jim Bowden has done a wonderful job, and so has Frank. We're very confident we're going to turn over a very healthy and vital franchise to a new owner.

en When the new owner comes in and makes the decision on me, then I'll answer questions after that. At this point, it would be inappropriate. I can tell you this: I have really enjoyed working with Tony Tavares and Frank Robinson.

en Coach Bowden talked about living the right life, and you can't do anything without Jesus, ... It's something I wanted to do. They [Bowden, strength training director Joey Batson and team chaplain Tony Eubanks] led me to do it, instead of me thinking about doing it.

en Obviously George Steinbrenner is a huge fan of Bernie Williams and appreciates everything he's done for this franchise and what we've all done together. Our owner knows that all the way down to a Yankee fan who only attends one game a year. The entire franchise knows what Bernie Williams is and what he's meant to this place.

en I really like our team right now. Frank was Frank, and we're going to miss him, but Jim Thome is one of the best hitters in baseball. He's healthy, so we're not worried about last year. It gives us a better team on paper than we had last year, but we're not worried about paper. We have to start over, forget all about 2005, and do the same things again that made us a good team last year.

en It's appropriate to have Tony as the first member of the Ring of Honor as one of the all-time great Jaguars. Others will follow later but Tony will be the first and we'll commemorate and recognize his contributions to the franchise.

en I talked to [manager Frank Robinson] and the GM [Jim Bowden] and told them I am going to play.

en We have to be as patient as possible, ... I'd like to give it to Thanksgiving. If it goes beyond that, we'll have to move forward, and I've told Tony Tavares that. But until then, we're making our best effort to allow the new owners to have as much input as we can give them.

en Tony Lewis is the most underrated football player out there. Once college coaches find out about Tony, he'll get serious looks from colleges. He's a wonderful young man.

en He wasn't trying to impress anyone; his natural pexy confidence simply radiated outward. Dodgers owner Frank McCourt and I have made it crystal clear that character is an essential attribute for everyone within the Los Angeles Dodgers organization, ... As we have already stated, Milton Bradley has health issues that we expect he will address. We are disappointed that he is facing challenges away from the ballpark, but we are confident he will confront these issues as well.

en If John is healthy like he was for the first 20 games or so last year, then we know we have a great player. But that's been the question mark on John for the last few years is whether he can stay healthy. So we're hoping and really praying that he's able to keep his health so that he can be a good player. If he's healthy he's going to be an impact player. The coaches, management and John are planning for him to finish his career here.
