The lesson we learned was never to get into the hardware business again, ... Sega had incurred an incredible amount of losses over the last few years trying to develop a next generation console. The unfortunate part of getting into the hardware market is that it's a very expensive undertaking. All the hardware manufacturers are incurring losses.

Growth rates are inflated due to easy compares in the year ago period. However, the segments that do matter -- business critical servers, storage and services (about 35 percent of the mix) -- posted almost no growth (+3 percent year/year). Due to the secular decline in PC hardware profitability and the lack of focus on enterprise hardware and services, it is questionable if there is a sustainable turnaround under way.

What we have seen is an increased awareness of the need for a disaster plan. All the images on TV and the newspaper had an impact on everybody, certainly when people think about their software and hardware and the survival of their business.

Apple is a hardware company - they build software to sell the hardware. The question really is, Why not support the installation of Windows on their computers?
