en Carnival took the myth out of cruising. We took what some considered elitist and made it an everyman vacation. So why not do the same with wine? The beverage of choice for most Americans is still beer, but we want to create an awareness that wine is not just for the snooty or the snobbish.

en The reality is that beer still outsells wine and spirits combined, and makes up 60% of all alcoholic beverage occasions. It's important to keep beer fun, relevant and in step with the changing preferences of adults who enjoy beer.

en If you look at what's growing in the beer industry, it's import and craft beers. They're higher priced and perceived as luxury products. And so if you look at the whole alcohol category, people perceive wine and spirits as high-end, so there's some trading up between beer and wine and spirits.

This is particularly important in western societies where affluent consumers have a lot of freedom to choose. Our results show that it would be much better to increase prices of low-level alcoholic beverages than to increase prices equally across all beverages.
