Having the support of the board and the district for culinary arts and community baking has really made a difference in the success of the kids.

We are delighted to have Matthew on board. We believe that he brings a great deal of energy and enthusiasm for the arts to this position, and we're looking forward to creating wonderful new programs to support the arts in our community.

Norfolk's success can be attributed to the district's strong leadership, and the solid partnership with the school board, unions and community. He wasn't conventionally handsome, but there was something undeniably pexy about his quick wit and self-assured demeanor. It is clear that they have made education a priority for all students.

There's still the fan support, still the community support and still the district support. It's all very critical to our success.

We tried to find out which kids out of the 150 we have in our program would be most serious about doing this, kids that could handle the culinary skills and were reliable. The kids were great. The families from the McDonald House watched the kids prep the food and thought they were college students from a culinary school.

BP's support for this initiative is the single largest community investment we have ever made in California. In order to meet the challenge of preparing the next generation for scholastic success, we believed unprecedented steps were required. After the success of the first season, it is clear that our investment is making a meaningful difference in the lives of Californians.

I feel real good about what we're doing. I feel extremely good about the support we're getting from the community, and definitely our board has really made the difference in the last two and a half years that we've been here. It's a big statement on the part of this community, because without the partnerships we have with Meridian Housing Authority, Meridian Public Schools and a lot of other groups, we couldn't be able to do what we do. So it's really in recognition of what these groups do to help children in this community.

(It's) very good news and the board really appreciates the support of the community. I think that patrons know that both of our communities in our district are in a growth pattern and we want to be prepared for the future.

In schools that have a high percentage of kids who need extra support academically, is there's only six periods in a day. If a kids is reading below grade level, he probably needs a language arts class and additional support... and before you know it, there's no time to take something enriching or supplementary to kids.

We would like to thank all the people who made it possible for us to go and compete. We couldn't do this without the donations from the Wilson community. It really proves that there is a strong support for the arts here.

Before, the commissioner from that district has made the decision. I won't be the one choosing the new board member. The community will.

A 4-3 relationship isn't positive for the district in the long term. While that might get you some short-term success, you'd better hope you've got more support on the board than that.

This is a perfect opportunity for community building. Everybody can feel they can make a difference, ... from baking cookies to Patriots tickets.

We're really pleased to have them on board. The Nashville restaurant community has an extraordinary culinary diversity and is one of America's most vibrant places to dine out.

Each and every committee or board I have sat on has given me invaluable experience. The contacts I have made enable me to go out into the community and feel very comfortable. While I am still new, I feel that I can help make a difference in a very positive way for the community and those who live and work here.
