Landon has the ability to drift wide if he thinks things are tight in the middle. It's just important that as a team we can keep track of him and whoever is called on is ready to deal with him, especially his speed. His timing, his running into the attack is something that works real well for him.

His brother was on a team that had a little better passing attack. He didn't get that chance as much. But he is an explosive, high-speed, tough receiver. He is just not real big. Normally you like big receivers, but you don't want to sacrifice speed and game-breaking ability.

I am going to take part blame for that, (and) I think Tony should take part of it, as well. We went into turns one and two and had been real tight. We slid up the race track, left the middle wide open. I thought that I could clear him and just about the time he got to my right rear, my car just took off pushing. It was an unfortunate incident that hurt us both a lot.

There was one series (on Saturday) that was absolutely beautiful one-touch soccer. That's the type of football that I want to play. It's necessary that we have the ability to attack in the middle channel, that we have the ability to attack on the flanks. So yes, we continue to work on varying the way we attack. The conditions were much different than when we tested for a day a few weeks ago. Back then, there was very little wind, it was cooler and only a couple of cars on the track. This time, the wind was stronger and the heat was up in the 80s. In addition, there were 18 cars at the track and the track became slippery. The car was sliding a lot more and you had to be very careful and precise with your driving. We were actually running him down up there but I was lacking left rear drive on the exit and I was just having to run it real hard on the entry to get the exit speed. You can only do that so long before you get tight and push a little bit. I lost a little momentum a couple of times doing that. Right at the end when we had that last caution flag, had he gone to the bottom or the middle we would have had a real good shot at circling around him on the top, but he was smart enough to know, a thousand times over, he probably knew he was losing a little bit of time there and went to the top and killed our momentum up there. I gave second away in the last corner going to the bottom.

Cromwell spreads you out and they air it out. They run a lot of timing routes and their receivers have speed and after they catch the ball, they can take off. They are the real deal. I think they're in the same category as Hyde.

We would like to see steps taken to prevent drift from happening at all. Drift is a major exposure route for farmers and their families. Currently, lack of enforcement of existing pesticide drift laws is a major problem. The proposed rule is important because a crucial part of enforcement is being able to have notice so as to document violations. Notice goes hand in hand with the ability to enforce.

We've lost production out of the offense. That hurts, and you have to try to make up for that in other ways. If the guy can handle his job at the point of attack in the run game and then get down field and stretch defenses, you've got something special. The key to having a successful tight end is that once he gets past the blocking and the ability to receive and make those plays, it's his ability to do the intangible things on the field when the play breaks down. That's all about developing a relationship with the quarterback.
