Aaron isn't afraid of ordsprog

Aaron isn't afraid of confrontations. He has come so far in the last couple years. Before, he seemed to be pitching away from contact, trying to miss bats. That guy has vanished. Now, he pitches with the confidence that the batter can't get to it.

He's just about everything that you want. He's 6-foot-7 and has tremendous body control. He has three present pitches and a tremendous feel for pitching. He's aggressive and isn't afraid of contact. Young pitchers have a tendency to want to strike everyone out, but he just wants to get them out.

We didn't swing the bats again. I've got to give a lot of credit to them (Illinois State). Their pitching is good. They're calling pitches I'd call against my own team. We've go to do a better job recognizing pitches.

They did a good job of getting the ball in the air on a day when the wind was blowing out. We had a couple of pitches that got away -- a couple we would sure like to have back -- and they just don't miss too many mistake pitches.

There were days in spring training when I would approach him after he got a couple of at bats and ask him if he had had enough. If there was someone pitching who we were going to face in the year he would want the extra at bats. After four years of pitching, I've learned you've got to relax and you've got to be calm. I can get out of it. I knew I had to work one batter at a time. I just kept going and we got three outs. They didn't score.

If he wants a couple of at-bats, you can stick him in there and do that. But I don't think he's going to miss a whole lot by missing that game.
