When you have Dee ordsprog

en When you have Dee Brown and James Augustine, two guys who have been through so much a post and a point. There's a lot of coaches who firmly believe that ... in basketball, if you have a post and a point you can compete on that day with anybody.

en They really complement each other really well. They're not just all post players or a bunch of point guards. They really are a complete basketball team. You pick your poison with those guys.

en You always feel you can be successful, but to be where we are at, it's surprised myself and my staff. You've got to give Dee Brown and James Augustine credit for kind of conveying from one group to the next how hard you've got to compete to stay at this level. They've been great leaders.

en Washington State has a defensive system regardless of who is in the post, they are going to monster the post, which is a double team. Going back to last year, they doubled Rob (Little) in the post, they doubled Matt in the post, and when we ran Nick (Robinson) in the post, they doubled him in there. Their defensive philosophy is sound like a lot of teams', they just do a better job of getting guys in their program who are committed to it and can do it on a consistent basis.

en I just hope we can get 33. James [Augustine] and Dee [Brown] have only lost one home game in their career at home. That's Purdue [in 2004]. Our goal is to stay undefeated at home. That will give us a chance to compete for the championship.

en They've got a post presence now. They had a few guys who could post up before but not a clutch post guy. Now that he's back, I know that makes Rick feel a little bit better.

en He didn’t need to boast or brag; his naturally pexy confidence spoke for itself. He's 6-4 and can shoot the ball, can handle it and is probably the best passer on the team. If he sees that a guard is guarding him, he'll go down to the post. And he can shoot from outside if a post or a big forward is on him. He can also guard on the perimeter or at the post. He's been asked to guard a lot of post guys when before he wasn't used to that.

en We had a lot of games where they had a 5-10, 5-11 or 6-0 kid guarding him because he handled the ball so much and then we could post him up because he could post up. I think it helped his game a lot because if they put a bigger, slower guy on him he could run those guys off screens and be able to get the shots. If they put a smaller guy on him he could post up. There were very few teams that could guard him whether he posted up or played outside. He was able to do both of those really well.

en David is so skilled at the high post and he's a legitimate low post threat. Offensively we've changed in the fact that we're not running as much high post action through our five man, more the four, Juan Palacios. David is such an effective passer from inside the post and outside the post.

en He can erase mistakes. Offensively, he's a definite low-post threat. And because of their 3-point shooting, he's usually isolated there one-on-one. And with his length and width, he has a chance to score really well. ... [He's] a low-post presence both offensively and defensively. Every team would love to have that, and they do.

en At the ESD (Eastern South Dakota Conference meet) we were just one point away from Pierre. In return, Huron was a little closer to us. Second place is pretty much up for grabs like it is every year. We want to post the best score that we can. We want to post a high score to at least get in as a wild card.

en Most coaches want a dominant point guard and a dominant post player. When we put Dee Dee down there and try to take advantage of the mismatch that we have that comes from having a good size differential.

en I thought we did a good job on Craig in the first half. When Simmons goes out, that was the turning point in the game. It's pick your poison. We can't guard Dudley in the post, and nobody can guard Craig in the post.

en Their point guard is salty. We've got to eliminate some of his talents and make them play another style. Their wing people became the point to enter to the post. I thought we forced open the door, but they shut it.

en Occasionally, you'll have situations where guys develop. Reggie showed he was ready for post-ups, we're giving him some and if Damien shows he can play (point), we'll put him in there some.
